Correct, since I am needing to talk serial, I am already going to have a connector plugged in, all I have to do is supply 5v at 10w.

rofl this whole thread is moot... your dream of using your ipad(omg 326ppi! nothing else does that... right ) is just that, but either way I wish you all the luck in your endeavor and please keep us updated on the progress... I apologize for questioning the dreaminess of having an ipad in a 3s...

This really isnt that hard Mike. The difficult part is figuring out how the DCC head unit talks to the controller. And what do you know about coding and hardware? Whats wrong with wanting an iPad in your car? Lots of people thinks its a great idea. Along with the big car companies putting touch screens and data storage and wifi in their cars...It will probably end up being standard in a few years.

What is your problem? Pull the stick out of your ass and quit being a douche for your own fat mother, please....Oh great that sounds like something you might say.

Also, please enlighten me as to what context you are using the word moot.

Grow up, and GTFO. You can go troll somewhere else. We don't need that shit on 3SGTO.

Edit: I noticed that you troll here quite a bit. Enough to prompt me to actually use the report feature. That's a big step for a stoner who is pretty passive about most things. Also not to mention I fail to see where in any of your posts that you actually help people here. All I see is you trying to start shit with people and troll constantly. So, why are you here again?

Am I totally missing something here or am I on the wrong page. Reading the entire post I noticed no reference to the following site. If you have not been to these they are a must see. I had thought I had view this on this site before but maybe not so here it is. Why do the programming when some else has already invented the wheel.

    You guys want interface?

    This is awesome stuff.

This doesn't control climate but it does display just about everything else. Plus, our cars have Digital Climate Control as built in options.

What I dont see in that link is any output control. It records data nicely but you cant like turn on a valve.

Doesn't work on OBD I. Secondly, that isn't what I want. Way off.

I will have to modify my dash, but there is room. I have measured it out and there will be some cutting involved, but this shouldn't be a problem for me.

OK. Admittedly it doesn't control anything but the displays are second to none that I have seen anywhere.

Yes, it is OBD II only but that is today. Tomorrow may be different, who knows. It may be able to work with something like the AEM EMS Series II since they do have WiFi capability also. After all WiFi can go both ways so all that is needed is something to control. I know it sounds overly simple but there has to be someone out there with the smarts to find a way.

Almost everything on the iPhone, iPad, etc. is programmed in Objective-C and Apple already has the necessary Classes to do just about anything one could imagine and if it doesn't then writing Classes to do what you need is not that hard to do. Apples entire Development System is free on any Mac and contains everything you need to program in Objective-C including access to all the frameworks.

As for placement, maybe an iPad could be inserted [on a special bracket] diagonally into the dash opening with a door that closes behind it. To use it just slide it out sideways [2:00 to 8:00] and rotate into place in front of the center console. Just thinking outside the box.
