Thread: 99 Montero ECU, 92 Stealth TT

  1. #61
Based on stealth316 ECM page, he listed the 98-99 DOHC and TURBO models with the same pins layout. There are a hand full of pins that are not used by the DOHC NA but are used for the Turbo Model.

    Pin 41: Waste gate solenoid
    Pin 48: Fuel pressure regulator
Pin 55: Turbo Fuel Pump Relay 2
    Pin 75: Active Exhaust
    Pin 77: Turbo Meter(Boost Gauge)

Most cars get rid of things like these. My question is what is special about your harness that boomslang or any other place that makes a conversion harness pertaining to a 3s DOHC ECU? Have guys explored the DOHC NA ECU as the most ideal ECU to use if available for Turbo models?

Here is the link on stealth316

Thanks for forwarding my message. Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

If you can get me setup at a reasonable price I would definitely help you guys work out the kinks/be a test subject as long as my car is still drivable during this time

Never tuned AEM or anything but I've nailed down airflow, timing, and boost on the eManage plus lots of logging/reading.

I don't need the link to Stealth316. I am well aware of the differences in the pin outs between the two ecus.

Of course the DOHC NA is the most ideal. The knock sensor circuits are the same. Do you think that we are stupid here? Due to the rarity of the 3000GT it was decided to find another replacment as the DOHC NA ECUs are still very expensive (if you can find one). The Montero and Diamante are much more popular and Mitsubishi started putting flashable ECUs in their cars in the beginning of 1998. Only the later 1998 3000GT had flashable ECUs. So this opens up a large variety of ECUs that will work with modification.

As far as the harness is concerned. I suggest you learn proper english as "My question is what is special about your harness that boomslang or any other place that makes a conversion harness pertaining to a 3s DOHC ECU?" is not proper english and I have no idea what you intended to say. I can only guess that you want to know what makes the harness special. The harness adapts your pre 99 factory harness to the proper plugs and pinouts for a 98/99 Montero or Diamante ECU without you having to hack into your stock wiring harness. Since you seem to have the answers, I guess you don't need a harness.

Dude get off your high horse. Yes I had a run on sentence but you knew what I was talking about. I clearly stated what ECU I have in both threads and no one answered my question. I posted the pinouts for Arron who was not sure if pins are the same between a 3S 98-99 Turbo and NA ECU. You directed my posts to buy your harness and nothing else would work!!! I would still need a harness since my car is a 95 TT. I don't have the answers but I know enough when someone is not answering my questions.

He did answer your questions, and he answered them fully. He may have a little attitude, but that's because you come off like you want the keys to all the stuff he's been working on for free. (And seriously, a common knowledge Stealth316 link? You're insinuating that they don't know what they are doing, which is pretty harsh considering what they will be bringing to our platform, and the level of experience of the parties involved.)

So in short, you now have the answers you asked, straight from the horse's mouth, and you still don't know enough to know when someone is answering your questions.

It's comments from people like you that take the joy out of bringing something new and exciting to this platform.

cool. now I just need to get a VR4 to join the ECU modding party

Also if Jeff ever reads this, let me know if you need help fabbing a pcb and whatnot for the FPGA board for older ECUs.

The only reason I posted the stealth316 to confirm the differences between these ECU's. My intentions were not to insulate them. I do apologize if I came off like that. Also, I am not asking them to post how to mod the ECU to make it work like some else did. People like me do not want to overpay for a product that exist already for my application.

Once Again . . . Harness Adapter (retail available soon in time for X-Mass), Custom MODIFIED ECU (you supply per our part number or we supply), Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 (ONLY the 2.0 will work for programming), EVOScan v2.7 (FOR DATALOGGING), ECUFlash (For PROGRAMMING).

Total price will still be way less than retail for an AEM EMS Series 2 ($1,260.00) plus $$$$ for install and $$$$ for tuning!

    AND

Priced under retail for a Greddy e-Manage Ultimate ($680.00) with a 3 Gen boom harness ($269.00)

Now I know you can find it cheaper on eBay, your cousin's uncle, or the guy down the street . . . so then go that route. I refer back to the prior post in reference to why it is the way it is.
Ok thanks for the info. No need to be sorry. I completely understand .

My only problem is that I already have an EMU.....No one wants to buy it either >_< So. I dont know what I am going to do. I have all winter to figure it out so thats good.

Do you guys expect this to be ready by March/April??
