    Active Aero Install

    Hi guys and gals,

    I wrecked my vr4 and it needed some work anyhow so I have decided to get a clean (better) shell and just start fresh. I am very likely getting a 97 vr4 and it has the hoop spoiler on it.

    My question is, if I wanted to put my AA spoiler back on it, how would I wire it up to work like factory? My old shell has everything on it still so I'm hoping I can swap stuff over to the new shell without too much trouble.

    Anyone have any experience or advice with this?

    Thanks

    Just wiring the wing to a switch isn't too tough as you just need some relays.

    Getting the speed based trigger signal will be the tough part. I think Greg figured out how to control the AA circuit with Chrome so if you already have or will be going to a flash ecu that may very well resolve this part.

    No pics yet. I've been out of town for work.

    The new shell I'm getting is a hoop spoiler and I would like to keep my AA.

    Yeah, I have chrome. I'm hoping that will be my saving grace. I would like it to be speed based still. I think it's neat.

    I would shoot Greg a pm and see what output Chrome has for this feature. If he can confirm the ecu output type and that it can drive a relay, I can modify the circuit I put together for someone else updated with a 3-position rocker/toggle switch that would allow you run the system as speed based (auto up and down), wing up, or wing down.

    I think the wire colors may vary with model year on the harness wing so I will also need to go back and do a pin-out confirmation. Luckily I currently have my wing off the car as I am updating my CF airfoil to a new version.

    I sold it already to another guy here in St. Louis. The wing was on the carbon fiber vinyl wrapped car that was at the NG this year.

    AA = active aero
    AE = active exhaust

    Chrome can do AE.

    It requires a lot to install AA into a car that didn't come with it. You'll need to save all the body/chassy wire harnesses along with the AA ECU which mounts in the trunk.

    I know guys who have done their own wiring setup using relays. One of the Chrome custom outputs could be used to trigger those relays.

    *note: it's not worth it. :P

    Ah! You sold the car to jack. That's why I was confused. I remember this being your car before the wrap but got all mixed up when I saw jack driving it.
