Driving stock oil pressure with aftermarket .5-4.5v sender. (vids/circuit/info)
Since I don't race the spyder I'm not going with a bunch of aftermarket gauges. Instead, I went with a LCDBC unit for digital readout. Having the oil pressure just sit idle was certainly going to annoy me so I created a circuit that will drive the gauge from an aftermarket 0-150psi .5v-4.5v sender that is shared with the LCDBC.
Stock gauge info:
The stock gauge is current driven. The sender unit changes resistance based on pressure and in doing so, changes the current that the needle motor runs on. It's so slooooow but it will work. On my gauge, 0 is about 25mA and the top was 125mA.
I setup the converter to top off at around 65/70psi. Since the sender starts at .5v, this puts the gauge pretty close to 0 without any offset.
Here are a few vids.
