I think I have enough originality and cool points banked up. Deduct away :p
-
This should be called the resurrection thread.
Tough choice...
-
Voted from Broomfield. :)
-
A lot of nice work represented this month.
Best of luck to everyone!
-
Hans : Rebuilt a car that had been destroyed TWICE, added a trailer
Gonzo: Copied Hans
Everyone else: Paint and basic mods, and one 'me too' 99 front end.
I really don't see how anyone but Hans should win this.
-
Gonzo's is a stealth ;)
And the smurf is a bit more than "basic mods" ;)
-
The concept of a trailer is the only thing that I guess could be considered being "copied". Even then I did actually speak to Hans before starting the project to be sure it was not interfering. ;)

i also deduct points not for how many cars were harmed during this build...but for a composite total of cars destroyed vs. saved by the individual. ;) oh, and let's not discount the fact that hans essentially owed it to his car. :p
p.s.
this isn't a month about "FIRST". if it was, it'd be a run-off between jack t., john m., bob the great, and a few select others.
-
Mine was also the first flashed ecu. Yea, 4000 rpm rev limiter!!!
First auto-manual swap
First one owned by me

That trailer better be a beer dispenser and grill by the time NG comes around.
-
LOL.... My trailer was made out of the first Stealth I ever bought back in 2001. It always had sentimental value hence the reason I held on to it so long. Now it has taken on a new role in life.
-
-
oh man, i miss mike rofl. that guy was fucking nuts. that was his name right?
and famous last words "nah, it wont spark"
-
Hans should win just off of pure effort into restoring that car. Should make it a targa though.
-
Did anyone actually read Gonz's rebuild thread? Its fukin insane the amount of work he did AND he DI IT WITH TONS OF PICS!!! Tough choice, but gonz has done some great things for us at co3s and I know the work he's done. Dave, sick car (love the wheels and Tcase btw), and Hans, trailer is awesome!

Hans BUILT a new car out of a shell. Nothing on that car is original but its skin.
-
Hans has managed to transform 5 or 6 cars into 1 and a half. :lo5l:

So did Hans. I've taken a ton of pics of my Spyder project car, but that doesn't make it an 'incredible transformation'.
Still, at least Gonz didn't stop every 5 minutes and put every decision to a community vote like someone else I can think of...

or procrastination. someone deserves a gold medal for procrastination.
-
I think the fact that Hans kept that car for so long also speaks numbers.
-
Great work done here by all the entrants. For me, it came down to Gonzo and Hans and I had to give the nod to Gonzo because he did all this in a driveway. He didn't have a huge garage and a lot full of spare parts to draw from. Not to say that Hans didn't make an incredible transformation also, his creation is a testament to what can be done with a little time and ingenuity, but he did have a few advantages over Gonzo.
-
Damn...this is a dog fight.

Awesome to see some many voting GJ Guys!

I voted for Hans because he made the trailer first. Gonzo's stuff is a pretty close copy and I'm not going to deduct for someone having tools. That being said, it was a hard choice because I've followed Gonzo's thread and know the work he has done to that car. I've sat in his car and can say he has done an awesome job with it, really nice. The only way he could have put more work into it was to start with a FWD and made it AWD lol. Also his car is turbo ha ha ;) @ Hans
Ether way they both deserve big time props, Hans gets the original trailer vote and he has also done a bunch of work to that car.
I was tempted to just vote for my buddy Dave though. Rode in his car and it might have been the fastest car I've been in. :p
-
I voted Hans bc he has a beard.
And proper facilities doesnt mean a shell build is easy.
Ask me how i know.

The 5spd conversion was pioneered on Hans' car, in a driveway, with no fancy tools, no google searching for a parts list because google didn't even exist yet, and no one to call for tips... because no one had ever done it before. ;)

In 1983, I converted a 3 on the tree Dodge van to an auto trans out of a Dodge Charger with a floor shifter, so you'll understand if I'm not overly impressed.

When the 5spd conversion was done on this car that is currently being voted on, Hans didn't have a garage at all, or a lot of any parts either.... just pointing that out :) The same goes for when this car was twin turbo'd, in a driveway, back in 2000/2001.
