PS3 or 360?

Hey what's up guys? I'm more of a videogame guy these guys as opposed to a car guy(when in reality I can't afford either one currently lol) but I was just wondering which system you guys prefer to play on and what you are currently playing? I'm playing more on my PS3 than my 360 these days and I am playing Battlefield Bad Company 2. Pretty awesome game if you haven't picked it up yet on the PS3 or the 360. Get the Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition for $40 as it comes with Battlefield 1943 and also the special Onslaught mode. It's funny that this is cheaper than getting the regular edition for $50 or $60. Go figure.

I know people are wondering why I didn't ask about the Wii. Well...many people as well as myself don't really consider the Wii as a system for the hardcore kind of gamer. I know people are putting these systems in their cars and trucks for shows and such which is cool also. I don't hear or see much about Nintendo Wii's though.

Gave up on the 360 - after 5 RROD's in a 2 year period, I decided to give up on Microsoft's junk and just stick with my PC.

I prefer the 360 but also have a Wii and will be picking up a PS3 for my birthday. Like you said the Wii is more of a light gaming system made for kids and girls (for the most part). I love the 360 and some of it's platform only games (such as Halo) but I'm also interested in the PS3 for the fact that it's a blue ray player and has free online play. Either way MW2 lights up my life...with gun fire!

Yeah I do understand about the RROD's that have plagued many a gamer. I've had a couple myself but they were both under warranty and my current system they actually replaced so that I can't really complain about. I think I saw some custom 360 box that some custom PC maker made into a PC box. I believe it was like $5k lol. Also on another note XBox Live is going up in price in November to $60 a year. Kinda sucks but with the amount of things they have going on in Live it's no real big shock. Sony is supposed to be implementing some sort of pay service within the next year as well I believe. No word on pricing yet though unfortunately. I do love my PS3 blu-ray playback though I must say. I just bought The Patriot last night and it was so much better looking than the basic DVD version.

I haven't play Modern Warfare 2 in such a long time since I got Battlefield Bad Company 2. Trust me Streamline if you haven't played it yet then I would highly recommend you try it out.

xbox 360 no doubt, ps3 just isnt a good online gaming system. Its online features have a LONG way to come to reach that of the 360. Now if you play single player games then its up to you which system. I have had 1 red ring since owning my xbox, it was under warrenty. Now on my ps3 the hard drive did go out as well as the blu ray drive. So i wouldent say one is terribly much more reliable then the other...

Yeah I understand that Trab. I haven't known very many people to have PS3 issues. I have a friend that did go through 3 XBox 360s in one week though so that was disturbing. The one thing I do like about the fat PS3 systems was that you could upgrade the hard drive. I have a 60 gig one that has all the backwards compatibility stuff they initially put in the systems. I do agree that while the 360 does give a better online experience the PS3 online really isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. It really depends on the company that makes the games most of the time and also the internet connection. I've had internet connection issues all around lol. Hell we can't have 2 360s connected on Xbox Live in this one house I live in. I think we may be in need of a new router though as I feel that really could be the issue. I do like the Netflix features on all the systems although it would be nice if Sony hurried up just implementing Netflix into the system without having to use a flippin disc.

That's what I've heard, I just can't justify the "new" price. I have too many home projects going on right now!

PS3 and PC

yeah a boost of $10 may not seem like a huge amount to some but to kids and teens that's like hitting them with a car payment I think lol. I think with them adding things like the NFL and other video media will help add to the value that they are trying to push. I have seen game sites try to push that if you really look at the pricing Microsoft set up for $50 when Live first started and implementing inflation into the equation then it makes sense that they boost it by $10. I don't get it myself and may just try to buy another year before the price goes up again. I really don't play the 360 quite as much these days though so I am not really sure.

Yeah I know what you mean lol. I want to get that little receiver that will allow a computer to pick up the wireless 360 controller. It seems no stores sell them anymore! Not even Gamestop! They just look at me like I have 2 heads when I ask about it and they say "well...we have wired controllers." Yeah those will work without the adapter but I want to not be limited by the wire damnit! I only see that stupid thing sold in a bundle with a controller at Best Buy in the PC section when I know they were sold separately for about $20....grrrr

I prefer 360 for games, but that goes back to wanting to boost my gamer score, and that some JRPGs a few years ago came out first on the 360. I have a ps3 that I use from streaming HD movies and shows onto my tv. I don't play as much as I used to back in college, and right after graduating, so I really only stick with one genre. I used to have a Wii, but lack of great solo games turned me off. It's a blast to play with friends, but those nights are few and far between.

Have both 360 and PS3, rarely play games on PS3, more just a dedicated Blu Ray player and browsing the web.

I have yet to watch an actual Blu-Ray movie. I tend to DL a lot of stuff.

I currently own a 360 and a Wii. Both have there place, and get equal game time, although the 360 is on 95% of the time to stream movies and tv shows. The PS3 just never appealed to me other than being able to run some Linux distros on it with limited access to the GPU, and now that is even taken away. I am currently in the middle of Metroid: Other M, and Halo Reach.

oh trust me dude you've gotta check out a blu-ray movie at least once. Personally Avatar really stood out graphically. I was a hundred times better looking on blu-ray over regular dvd. I do alot of downloading myself when it comes to tv shows and movies but when it comes to the quality of a movie I will go with blu-ray any day of the week when I can afford it. They are getting pretty cheap now. I think they are as low as $6 or $7 in some places like Best Buy.

I got a PS3 last christmas, I loved it, but nobody I know plays one so I have no friends online to play games with. I then went out and bought a new 360 slim, and it turns out everyone who used to play 360 hardly does anymore. So now I'm just sitting here with both systems bored. I think I like the setup of the 360 better, it seems a little more user friendly, but the PS3 has more going for it as far as how nice the console is and the free online and whatnot.

PS3! I own a 1st generation PS3 (allows playing of PS and PS2 games) and love it. Never had any problems, its runs flawlessly, and have had it accidently running for several days (sisters to blame), with out any issues. I dont really play online games much, but never really saw a difference between the PS3 and 360.

What is funny is I used to play the 360 way more than I played my PS3. More and more of my friends got the RROD multiple times over and they stopped using the systems because they couldn't get one to keep working. I still was used to using the PS3 controller since it was the same controller from the first PS. Just a little tidbit of info, all of the PS3 models will play PS1 games and they will also play Japanese PS3 games. Graphically the PS3 is a little bit better but in terms of features the PS3 system far outweighs the 360. I just find it funny that MSoft is just now adding wireless to the newer generation of the 360 before the Kinect comes out.

PS3. I have a 360 and a PS3 and the 360 is bunk. It is loud and very unreliable. It freezes more often and redlights if you look at it wrong. On top of that, if you want to play online you have to pay yearly. PSN is free. My 360 is more of a liability than an asset.

360 and PC for me.

While I still love my gaming PC I just have to say I haven't upgraded anything in a couple of years(except for some stuff I won from Blizzcon and E 4 All a couple years back lol) and must say that it is just too damn expensive to keep upgrading. I would love to drop $500 on a new videocard even though I already have a great one(it's just not HD hehe.) I still game on it occasionally but I dunno...I'd prefer to use my PC for surfing the net these days I guess. I have my gaming rig hooked up to my 40" Samsung HD tv so older games look like butt unfortunately.

yeah psn is free and lags like crazy and its hard to get a good name cause everyone has it as for the rrod i have had mine for over 3 years with no problem at all, and it has never froze up on me I am willing to pay 3 dollars a month for a better online games network

Well if the system is getting the 3 red lights on the system and if the manufacturer date is less than 3 years to the date you should still be under warranty.

It took me over 6 months to decide which system to get. I talked with many people who owned one or both systems and did a LOT of research online. In the end, I ended up getting the ps3.

My reasoning was the ps3 was a MUCH more quality system, built in blue ray player, blue-tooth, internet browser, NetFlix, MUCH better multi-media player (optical and HDMI output, Divx and WMP compatable), stylish case, backwards compatibility with previous model games (had to buy a used first gen model) and I was able to get a better deal on it at GameStop than an xbox360.

The truth is, Halo was the only reason I considered an xbox360 but unfortunately, it's not worth buying a whole system for one game.

Yes it would. I got sick of sending it in. I have very few troubles playing on PSN. To be honest, I actually like it just as much as 360 online.

Yeah I feel where you're coming from there Greg. I do like the fact that the PS3 has a ton more features than the 360 actually has. Pretty much all of those features plus memory card/stick compatibility in the older systems as well. The earlier Halo games weren't bad but the 360 Halo games have thus far sucked. It will be interesting to see how Halo Reach plays out as it is due out next week. I am kind of interested in the stupid Kinect moreso lol

ah that sucks sorry to hear that. I'd say get it fixed again and talk to a customer service rep this time and tell them you are sick of having to get it fixed and want them to send you a new one...not a refurbed one. My mom did that for my brothers and got a new system sent to them and they haven't had any issues since. I don't really have issues with PSN either. Yeah I get disconnected from games occasionally in Battlefield Bad Company 2 but that can be a good thing sometimes. Kinda tells me when I should just pack up and go to bed lol.

Yeah like i was saying there is no other choice besides the xbox for online gaming. It cost money and for some reason has over triple the amount of online players. Dunno must be because it outsells the PS3 5 to 1. Another thing i really like about the xbox is how everybody has headsets online. Everytime i take my PS3 online everybody is typing. Its funny how on the xbox you will get kicked for not having a headset while on PS3 hardly anyone has one. Guess its because it wasnt packaged with one. The other thing i really like is how the xbox gets ALOT of exclusives, like if the game is on both consoles the xbox will get some added downloadable features to kinda sway you towards getting there version. Also not having to put in a disc for netflix is really nice as well. Also load times on ps3 the fact there on bluray disc's makes the games take longer to load, thats why most games want you to install on the hard drive to shorten those times, i dont like this at all. O and teh ps3's lack of party chat, i use that so much i cant imagine online without it, same thing with the achievements they really want to make you finish games you never would before...

I currently have a PS3, XBOX 360 (Elite), and WII (Black). If you can only afford one I would suggest a PS3 for all the things you can do with it. Also, the games are getting awesome! Please see my descriptions for all below:

I use my 360 to play with friends since that is all they have. Becareful since RROD is a DEFINITE factor still plaguing users. Also, the 360 gets so hot it literally heats up your room fast.

I use my PS3 for gaming, BluRay, and play online with some friends. Gran Turismo is finally coming out along with the new Twisted Metal game. You can also use it to browse the internet, use if through Linux, and a lot other cool stuff.

The Wii is my latest add on. This is mostly used when friends come over and we feel like some fun times. This is GREAT to have for drinking purposes but make sure they tie on those damn controllers lol.

Overall, PS3 is a console that will last the longest, give you a GREAT experience, and I guarantee you will be happy.

Also, online game play for PS3 is FREE ---- XBOX costs money.

Yeah, it just gets frustrating after time. To be honest, I still have the occasional lag with 360 online too. In my experience, online play has been very similar. The only time I hated 360 online is when COD4 was out. The invite system on COD4 on 360 was horrific. Otherwise, it's been quite similar to PSN. But to each their own. If that's what you want for the price, nobody is to say otherwise. :/

360 + PC. Forza 2/3 came out before Sony could manage to push out GT5. That was a big reason. Plus everyone I know save for one friend has a 360. Microsoft's online offerings are hands down better than Sony's. It used to be no contest at all so at least Sony has stepped it up a bit, but it's too late for me.

One PS3 and lots of games and Blu-rays.

I Have a PS1, PS2, Wii, 360 but i play most games on PC.
360 favourite at the moment though i think would have to be Forza and need for speed shift. But I am playing Assassins creed 2 at the moment although completed i have gone back to do all the mini missions and find all the treasures chests.

I have to admit Sazzy that I used to collect videogame systems and games as a hobby. My collection got pretty big at around 750 games and over 35 different systems including handhelds. I played some of them occasionally but damn did I start to run out of room lol. Most of my games were NES and SNES games in the boxes and all the systems I had the original boxes for. I eventually had somebody offer me a good chunk of change for all my classic stuff and I felt it was time to make some room and some money since I had been collecting for about 5 years or so. What was funny was I had even started my own videogame section in an anime store in Pasadena, CA and when I finished up I had made some money but also had way more games than what I started with. Most of my high value games and systems were gone as people snatched those up fairly fast but I didn't mind. It was definitely an experience.
