Any riders on here? Be careful of crazy rednecks...

My dad just showed me this....that guy is ridiculous, completely uncalled for imo. I'm going on a ride in WV and TN in a few weeks, hope to not run into this guy!!
While the first biker was in the wrong for passing on a double yellow (and I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like) the truck driver went nuts and could have killed so many people...especially the biker who he seemingly played chicken with (3rd one that passed him in the other lane--maybe he didn't see him, maybe not). You NEVER know what another driver is gonna do....EVER.
Some nutjob tried to run me off the road during a 3SPA cruise because I passed him. Legally in a passing zone, he started speeding up to not let me pass him. A bit up the road we pull over to get coordinated and the dumbfuck comes up and starts giving me shit that he has kids in the car and blah blah blah. /facepalm
Some people out there are retarded.
What is wrong with this guy? He did no better with his speeding through those corners in a pickup. Its to bad he didnt drive off the road or something..
I probably would have followed him to his house and done something to his truck on another night..
I hope he got arrested. Its easy to drive those speeds in the (relative) safeness of a truck, but it's a totally different story out there on a bike.
As a former rider I can't even put my words together right now, sorry if I'm not making sense.
To tell the truth I wouldnt have called the cops, I wouldnt want them to know it was me that beat him half do death
a clear nylon wire across that street between two trees should take care of that motorcycle nuisance.
Motorcycle was in the wrong for passing on a curve AND hill with the double yellow.
Truck guy is absolutely insane for his attempted murder stunt then playing chicken with other motorists.
TLDW. needs 5-6 minutes edited out.
1. The rider pulled an illegal move.
2. That's why I carry spare sparkplugs in my pocket when I ride.
3. 2 streetbikes couldn't outrun a pickup with a 4 wheeler in the back?
4. Appearenly the police didn't charge the driver with attempted manslaughter and instead probably charged the rider with an illegal pass, otherwise the vid would have said so instead of just "watch this sh*t".
5. Crowbars don't scare me when I'm wearing a helmet and armored jacket....I would have just kicked his ass until he passed out, then left and deleted the tape. Then raped his wife/daughter with a wiffle ball bat, and burned down his house/trailer with his whole family inside...or something like that.
Harsh.
This! That guy should be charged with attempted man slaughter.
Some 3s owner basically did the same thing and started a thread about it on the other board a few years back. He just pulled the wheel for a second though. He got reamed pretty hard by everybody.....rightfully so.
I have no idea what the laws are in that state, but just as a general rule, the cops wouldn't be able to prosecute the case without seeing it themselves... It would be up to the guy on the bike to press it, and he probably didn't know or wasn't told how to do that...
LOL Have to admit, I was thinking the same thing.
I lived in FL for a few years, TX for a lot more, and ridden in both. FL there are a lot more riders and from my experience, cars there know to just be cool and get out of the way. TX... sigh. Everyone here drives a huge SUV or pickup truck, and we all drive aggressive. I've witnessed the exact same thing several times on roads here in TX, and it's happened to me a few times as well. Drivers here practically pick fights. From the video, it looks like the bike was passing on a double yellow. Well, while technically that's illegal, those rules are written for cars, not bikes. What the truck driver did after that is beyond insane. He could barely keep the truck on the road, using both lanes. One of my personal pet peeves is people who think their car is something other than it actually is. I have no problems seeing a sports car go 80-90mph in a 70mph zone, or a bike for that matter. But when I see SUV's and 4x4 trucks doing it, and trying to bully the road, that just pisses me off. You want to drive like you have a sportscar? Then buy a fucking sportscar!
One simple solution to this. CCW permit and a nice gun. Lets see you come at me with a crowbar after trying to run me off the road then. Fucking redneck assholes.
No, not really. A motorcycle has much better vision of the surrounding area and has the power to weight ratio to get past the other vehicle in a hurry. Hell I pass on some double yellows all the time. I know the roads and if I got someone driving 15 mph below the speed limit I am going to pass them when given the chance. My car has the power and I have the know how to do it.
Yea, and I have a friend who has the know how to roll 10MPH through every stop sign he comes to... completely illegal.
I'm sorry, bike or not, you don't pass over a double yellow. That's just as bad as the cyclists who think it's OK to just bypass a traffic jam by riding the shoulder. They just seem to think they can do anything they want because they're smaller.
The truck driver was obviously an asshole for what he did, and if I was on that bike I would have kicked his ass at the stop sign as well, but regardless, the biker broke the law. I'm not one to usually give two shits about the law, but when it comes to road laws, I take those pretty seriously, due to the consequences of what happens if you don't.
So you're going to tell me that I have a 1/4 mile or more of vision in front of me and its not safe to pass? Hell some of the double yellow areas I pass on used to be passing zones until a few years ago when some lawmaker decided it would be better not to be a passing zone because it might make more revenue for the state if a cop witnesses you passing someone safely there.
They are both in the wrong. It is not legal for any motorized vehicle, bike/car/etc, to pass on a double yellow. Period. You don't get to play the "I know what I am doing, bikes can pass cause they have awesome power and can get out of trouble if they need to" card. It is illegal. But, the truck swerved over to hit him. Which is equally as bad. Yes, equally. They both can do harm to themselves and innocent drivers by breaking traffic laws.

Personally, I don't see double yellows here in NY unless it's obviously unsafe to pass. I do see double yellows rarely on a back road that appear to be safe to pass on, but I don't do it. Not only for the fear of cops possibly being around to witness it, but because I have at least an ounce of patience. I can wait for the next available dashed yellow, no big deal.
Here in my area of PA passing zones are few and far between. I can go 15 miles without a passing zone so I am going to take the opportunity if given.
And to say that attempted murder is on an even keel with an illegal pass is laughable at best.
You're obviously not a rider. The rules of the road were written with the average car in mind, and what they can safely do. If you don't think that is the case, you are mistaken.
I never said what the rider did was NOT illegal. But you suggesting that a lone rider attempting to pass someone is on par with that truck driver swerving to kill him? That'll probably be the dumbest thing I hear all day. One violation would result in a traffic ticket. The other would be an attempted murder charge.
This.
I've been riding for more than 15 years. I've always thought it should be mandatory that people who learn to drive a car must also learn how to ride a motorcycle, unless there is some handicap that they cannot operate a bike. It builds a heightened awareness of traffic, and teaches you to pay attention at all times. You're never going to see a rider texting or putting on makeup while on a bike. If that redneck had a bike of his own, or knew how to ride one, he would have never attempted to run that guy off the road.
While I am not speaking for NP, I feel what he was trying to say is that BOTH acts are illegal and BOTH acts go against traffic laws, regardless of whether you are riding a motorcycle or driving a truck. BOTH were in the wrong. Neither one was more 'in the right' than the other. Either one of those maneuvers very easily could have resulted in the death of a driver or rider.
And to give the impression that bikers have a "right" to disregard traffic laws simply because they are on a motorcycle is quite silly. No one driver or group of drivers are above/beyond the law. Just MHO, of course.
Riding around here in east Tn ive noticed its always the pickup trucks that feel like they have to prove something. Whenever i go to pass a vehicle and they speed up, its always a pickup. Whenever i pass someone and they then proceed to speed up stay on my ass, its always a pickup.
Its riders like you that end up wrapped around trees. Good luck with that
On my bike
The pass was illegal but it was safe. He didn't cross the line until he could see the road was clear.
Anybody know where to find the video after that one if there is any... I would be interested to see if the guy did go to jail or not.
No F-ing way! One was a safe pass but illegal pass. It's against the law to speed but we have all done it in areas safe to do so. The other was illegal and could have very well killed the guy plus it was on purpose. No way that was even remotely equal.
Edit: Not to mention the guy tried to run the guy down and spent half of the time in the wrong lane treating everybody else on the road.
Illegal is illegal. He could have easily hit on coming traffic, lost control and wrecked, etc. The rider/driver does not get to make up rules as they go along if they deem their abilities better then everyone elses's on the road. Have I broken the speed limit? Yes. And I was wrong to do so. I won't argue that I should/could have cause I am the bestest and I know better than the speed limit sign posted.
Albeit, swerving at the passer just cause you are mad they are passing is retarded. They should both be cited for the illegal acts they committed. The truck should receive a stiffer ticket/fine/jail. But the cycle is by no means an innocent bystander.

there are some stupid (unnecessary) laws and stupid drivers out there.
Isn't it legal to do this in some states...California maybe? correct me if I'm wrong.
But it's interesting to see how everyone views a situation like this. My take, the biker does have a clearer view to see ahead, and I think it's was okay to pass, illegal? Yes, but come on really, complaining about this, should be the least of your worries. The pickup was completely out of line, a less experienced rider would have been killed!
If the pickup truck wouldn't have swerved, I don't think anyone would be talking about passing on a double line!
Hey guys, I'm the new guy here, so I'm not going to dump it all out there, I'll just keep it professional. I have been a Police Officer for 11 years, and currently I am a Motor Officer. It's easy to get wrapped up in these kind of things emotionally and that's usually when people get upset. Pull yourself out of the situation for a minute and look at the facts.
Beginning of the video states that people from all over love to ride this road. Means alot of out of towners come blowing down a rural road where people live, work, and children play. The video clearly shows two riders traveling at a high rate of speed on a road that I can almost guarantee isn't zoned over 45, probably 35. They are showing a complete disregard for those who live in that area. Basically disrespecting the residents. I have seen what a motorcycle vs. pedestrian will do first hand and it was fatal for both at a speed of 40 mph. I stop people all the time speeding through housing areas and school zones who have children themselves. They are my favorite because when I see a car seat and ask them how they feel about people doing it in their neighborhood I get one of two responses. A. "You're right, I'm sorry, I hate it when people do that", or.....B. "Go to hell, there's never a cop in my neighborhood when people are speeding", "I didn't see any kids", "my car will stop in time" and my favorite, "I didn't know what the speed limit was" as if ignorance is an excuse.
Now some of you are thinking that it doesn't give the pickup driver the right to do what he did, and you're absolutely right. That's a guy who obviously has snapped and had enough, but I lay alot of it on local law enforcement for not spending more time in those areas and building public trust that it would not be tolerated. I can tell you that if I were sitting there and those three passed me, all three of them would be seeing a judge for reckless driving.
The point is, what you have here is a case of "evil begets evil".
Now that I'm done with the cop answer, If I were hanging out on my front porch and saw Billy flying by chasing a motorcycle and another in pursuit, I'd whip all of their asses for general stupidity. I promise you if you ride/drive like an ass, sooner or later it will catch up with you, be it the law, the land, or the tree. Not one of those individual had any business driving like that.
DISMOUNT!
Very well put, i couldnt agree more
This boils down to people thinking they can Police the road, which is bullsh*t. So what if he flew by you, does that entitle you to act on it and threaten yourself and others?! I drive on mountain roads here in CO and those drivers are the worst. Why would you speed up when someone tries to pass (on one lane highways) even though you were doing 15 below the limit prior? I know this is a different scenario but its another example of people thinking they can Police the road when they should just mind their own f*cking business and just let the person safely pass regardless if its a damn bike or not. By doing that nonsense you put yourself, the person trying to pass you, and others on the road coming towards you in danger over your tomfooleries.
Learn to drive RESPECTFULLY people, dont be dbags about it and say "he's breaking the law, so I will too just to teach him a lesson!" Dumb f*cks
