I just want some opinions on people who have been there. I am debating on going or not and I just want to know all about it since it's not exactly a next door drive. I also heard this may be the last one ever? Opinions welcomed!

According to nelson, not at all.
Sorry to post that negativity, but he just seems to overstep the line time and time again. For the love of all that is holy, GIVE THAT FOOL A T-SHIRT!
Scotty
P.s - to answer your question, go. It will be a kick ass time.
it's ok, everyone has their opinion and I am looking for both the goods and bads. I appreciate your answer though =)
I've never been but I would LOVE to go. The biggest gathering of 3/S's on the planet and a chance to meet all the members here who have helped me over the years are two pretty damn good reasons I'de love to go. The opportunity to buy Alan a cheese burger is also high up on my list of things to do as well.
In case you missunderstood my original post, you should ignore anything nelson has to say.
Scotty
Do it! You're a heck of a lot closer than I am. :p
The chances of another NG as unique and memorable as this one are pretty slim. The people are friendly, and all of you will have one big thing in common: the love for these cars. If you have the vacationing budget and the time, I think you'll regret not going.
Hell yes its worth going.
I did not start the event and from 04-06 I was just the web guy.
Its a blast and I look forward to NG week all year. Since 07 After Jeremy And Tiffany left I've had to work a lot more on site and its still a blast to.
If you love 3S's and you can go you should .
Scotty, why you gave that jackass Nelson another chance to spread his bumbling idiotic and insulting ramblings is beyond me. You aren't being helpful here or in the thread on the other site, just stop.
Back on topic. The NG is the best opportunity to get to know the people behind the cars. It's also an excellent time to compete against cars that are identical (at least aesthetically) to your own car in drag racing, autocross and road racing.
I've been to 06, 07 and 2010 - I will also be there this year. In short, just get off your butt and go. It is a hell of a good time and a great chance to unwind from life and escape from the reality of these cars getting older and fewer in number every year. I go because it is motivation to make my car better in show and 'go'.
and there are plenty of other guys driving from new england. you will be with a fairly large group.
I went in 07 and 09 and it was great. I am going again this year. I am bringing my talon to drag race and my friend is driving my vr4 for the other events. It is worth it and it will be great this year. You get to see a bunch of cool guys, a bunch of sweet cars, and race/mess around with your car at many events. And if you are like many owners you love 3S's more than any other cars, so where else can you see so many at once and see them performing.
I love to drag race but at my track if there is 100 cars there, 80 are mustangs, 15 others are muscle cars, I am in the talon and there are a few ricers (like integras running 18s with a body kit). SO to be able to go and see only 3S's drag race, autocross, road race, show off at the car show, and go around IMS, its like heaven. Although, you will have to stomach watching my dsm race in the "other" class. I wouldnt bring it because it is not a 3S but I am bringing my 3S and I cannot race at any of my tracks without a roll cage. I am hoping there are not any rules like that at the strip. In past years they checked lug nuts and that was about it, no real tech, so I am looking forward to get some more good times until I can afford a cage.
But short answer is HELL YES, there is NO reason to miss it and if you love 3S's why would you want to miss it.
yes, i went to ng09 and it was one of the best times ive ever had. going again this year fo sho.
I went to my first one in '09. I figured Memphis would be about as close to San Diego that it'll ever be, so I'll go once, just to be able to say I did it. I had such a good time, that I'll be back again this year for my second NG. I met DuTTch at the '09 NG and we're now pretty good friends. So, is it worth going to? Definitely!
It’s a great time! I have no idea why Scotty would post up shit Nelson said. My head hurt just reading it. You would think he would have installed a spell check after all these years.
I’ve been going since 08 and I’ll keep going as long as they have them. It seems to get better every year. Probably because the more you go, the more people you get to know.
NG = awesome.
I probably don't need to do this for you guys, but I'm going to because I want the truth out there. Nelson NEVER asked us for any paperwork, records, or anything else. This is our fifth NG. He sponsored one of them, but as long as we've been planning it that's the ONLY one he ever paid anything toward. He was right - he registers every stinkin' year. And every year he doesn't pay a plumb nickel. So Nelson, fuck you. I've had enough.
That being said, it still kills me to hear people say that kind of stuff about us... It just breaks my heart, and makes it REALLY hard to keep going on this year's event. There's sooooooo much work to be done, and I have absolutely no motivation when I read that kind of stuff.
Now. To answer the question at hand. YES it's worth going. Look... I'm not even a car girl. I couldn't care much less about these cars. But I care more about the people involved than I'd ever care to admit. I've never met Sean Johnson. Met Linda once (can't say we hit it off, but people change and that was many years ago). I was one of the first people to shed a tear when they had their accident. Guys who break down at the race events? Yep. I cry for them, too. And I'll stay out all night ot make sure they get things taken care of. Not because it's my job, but because I care. I won't be alone, either. It's my favorite part of the week.... I get to watch a bunch of guys, many are experts on these cars, get together and help someone they barely know get their car back on the road. It's SOOOO amazing!! And ya know something? I've been to every single NG, whether I was organizing it or not. And I've enjoyed them more and more each year. You'll meet amazing people, and you'll have an amazing time. Tom is right... He came to see how we do it and what it's all about. We had a great chat out on the road course (I got to be a flag person! Woo-hoo!!!) in Memphis. I'd consider him my friend any day of the week, as well as the rest of them.
As for the rumblings that this may be the last... Sadly, it's true. And even if we end up with another, I can promise you there won't be another one like this one. So for anyone who is concerned about not knowing anyone, or feeling out of place... Pull up your big girl panties and get that show on the road!! Introduce yourself at the registration table... I'm not shy. I'll introduce you to EVERYONE. :) Trust me... You'll walk away with some great friends.
Oh... And for anyone who has issues with someone on the forums... Forget it. Those issues never make an appearance at NG. Even the infamous GateCrasher and Bobby... They hate each other, yet they managed to get along at NG. It's just the way it is.
Hope I've convinced you. Our registration numbers are climbing by the day. Make yourself one of them.
As someone who probably won't be able to make it this year, I will still say you don't want to miss it. It's hard to imagine how you can build friendships in a few days that feel as fresh and real a year later. As great as these cars are, the real magic is in their owners. Seeing a 100 or 200 cars and owners all in one place is an experience you don't want to miss. I will have to say my first 2 NG's were the best vacations I've ever had. Last year I spent way to much time fixing my broke car. lol Ok, I'll stop now or I'll be in debt and showing up after all.
Nelson's a twat. Ignore him.
Great times, especially at the stl group :)

For Tom to say it's worth it is saying a lot when you consider it's probably going to cost him near $1000 in gas alone to drive out and back from San Diego. Not to mention it will be close to 30 hours driving each way. Props to you Tom :D I may go but if I do it will be by airline.
Yes...definitely worth it and the drive isn't that bad and I think I'd have about an hour longer drive than you would.
If you're in let me know and we can meet up around Erie. I'll be trailering but as long as you don't mind it's always good to cruise with someone else.
Yo, 93STLTH, when are you going through? If you pass through STL, you could link up with us and caravan to indy.
I will be passing through St. Louis, but it's hard to predict when. I tried to hook up with the Texas people in '09, but I was too far behind on Tuesday to catch up. My plan is to leave on Sunday, drive through to somewhere between Grant, NM and Albuquerque, then try to make it to Tulsa by the end of Monday. I doubt I'll hit St. Louis before 3 or 4 in the afternoon on Tuesday.
Never been myself. But Im jumping in head first on this one. Pace lap baby!
I miss caravanning to the NG :(
Absolutely worth every second of drive time and penny of registration. I haven't been since 07(damn didn't realize it had been that long), but have always had an awesome time every time I've went. If you can go, GO! :)
Jeremy
Yes its worth going, simple as that.
Asking this question is like asking a crack whore if they'd like some free crack....hell yes it's a good time!
I've gone to ever one of them so far and enjoyed all of them. This one should be the best, and maybe even the last. So I'd suggest if just for the sheer fact that if you if you don't go to this one you may not get another chance.
:stupid:
I was at 04-07, and loved every moment. I was talking to Gatecrasher after we left '06 and we thought about why we missed it so much, and came up with this:
When at the NG, you can forget the real world for a little while. Gas prices, cost of living, politics, etc - they all take a back seat for 3 days while you live your car with others that feel the same as you do. Without sounding cliche, you get to live in a bubble for a couple days surrounded by your favorite hobby.
Absolutely worth it if you can get there. It's an experience like none other.
Yes!!!
I want to go soo bad but it's 36 hours or so straight driving one way.. I'd probably do it if I had another person to go with but the wife is working :(
I went to the very first one and it was a really good time, I'd recommend it.
