I've been running a little rich since i've put my car back together. I did have a wastegate come loose, fixed that and its still running rich. Did a pressure test still the same. So whats next? Leaking injector??? Bad fpr? Help!!
Sup, yeah this forum takes a little getting used to, but now I like it better in almost every way. As an added bonus, I'm not presently banned from it!
What do you tune with again?
Im using the arc-2 which has been doing great. But since I have put the motor back in its having a rich condition. I tried dialing it out with the arc but then it goes way lean. So I know it isnt the tune since you can only adjust so much on the arc, so I believe its mechanical. Im gonna try some injector cleaner and see if it'll clear up on its own before I just go replacing low mileage parts. I'd much rather have the rich condition then the overheating problem I had before though.
Is it always rich, or only certain conditions? Is WOT AFR ok and idle is rich? Or?
BTW My smoking problem was the VSS. I guess the machine shop didn't know how to seat them. Some were all the way up the valve. It's all Justins fault.
It's about time the TN sectiom come to life...carry on.
BTW..I love u guys!
At idle its fine. It'll be running at 13-14 while cruising and i'll look at it again (every few mins now) and then it'll be pegged off the gauge rich---. So i'll let off throttle re-apply and it goes back to normal for a few then the same thing over and over. I dont believe that I have changed the vacuum lines either, i'll double check that.
Vacumm lines are hooked up correctly. I did find that my cas bolt had vibrated loose so I need to set the timing. Could that be causing the car to run rich?
I mean if its out of time I should see some knock or something right?
Yea, we really wanted to go to NG as well, but with the move, starting up and now building the new shop, we have to accept the fact that we will be pretty busy at that time and just won't be able to go.
BRG we are still trying to work out. Finding a new dog sitter is tougher than I thought. I can guarantee that you will have an absolute BLAST at BRG, though. You should REALLY look into it. :cheers2:
Well I got the VSS replaced, changed the o2 sensors. I need to install Wayne’s crash bar, finish up the boost controller scanmaster thing and put stuff back together. I think that’s all.
Who's coming to NG?
I am :D
Kinda quiet though
I just read the first post, so I'm going to try and update regularly here if I can.
Yeah unfortunately we haven't got this area very active yet. It doesn't help that it's not on the main page of the forum.
Cool! I'll try and do the same. I'm probably going to pressure test the IC system and hook the AEM boost controller to the ECU so I can log boost with evoscan today. I had to move a pin on the harness to do it for the wideband and it looks like I'll need to do that for the BC also. I can ether take one from the extra O2 sensors that my car doesn't have or I can try to use one from this old emanage blue cable that I don't need.
Or trade me rear pre-cats and down pipes because "that is a bad place for a wideband" lol..... I visited a buddy from Smyrna today, no car work for me :(
I recant, my wife's TSI starter took a crap, so, if making more work for me counts as working on a car.....

I got a bit tired of trying to set the text on fire. This is only half done, but I think F94 would be a cool way to identify/represent the TN forum. Did you know F94 is a Starfire?
It looks pretty cool, the bottom is a little dark so it makes it hard to read in your avatar though.
its half of a process that makes flame text, it will be easy to see when its done
got my wifes car home via tow strap, unfortunately it rolls faster than a speeding tow vehicle, bit scary at 50mph....
I had to work on the Mud Turtle today (Mazda protege DD). The rear drums were grinding. When I took off the passenger rear wheel, the tire was ballooned  so now I need new tires. I found tires and rims on CL. 50% tread and pretty nice looking rims instead of steel wheels and hubcaps. 175 OBO, I might have to do that.
considering the price of wheels alone, I'd go with it. Dubz are pretty cheap these days, that would make you tits with the mazda community lol

I made a T-shirt art thread. I don't know if we have any photshopers on the forum. (other than adjusting car pictures for RTOM lol) I thought it would be cool to see what other members come up with.
I gave JohhnyTurbo's car a quick facelift in exchange for the right to use the picture on my T-shirt for the contest.

That looks damn good! Not sure I like the mustang headlights but pretty cool none the less.
:lo5l: OK that's not as bad.
I started cleaning out the other half of the shop my parents share with me. Finally have a decent place to tear into my old engine. I'm hoping there are some pistons left lol. While moving the old engine around, I realized why I don't get much of a kick out of 3S major services. My uncle is thinking about starting a detail shop with small side repair services Hope it works out, he wants me to help get it going. Maybe we will make some moeny. Who knows? :)
I asked granny about pulling my starter (the user, not my actual late grandmother) and she suggested pulling from underneath. I was a bit saddened by this, so I looked for alternate methods. After sifting through 100 DSM threads with "take a grammar class, and buy a chelton manual" as the only "helpful" response, I found this wonderful how-to, with pics! If you ever need/want to pull a DSM starter for the first time without diving under the car, (say the garage is full, and it snowed) here's the way. Starter Swap / Install - DSM Forums
That front looks mean as hell.
