That would usually be caused by a leaky injector. How does it run ? Rough at start up ? Black smoke when you first start it ?
You either have ring issues, or are running way too rich. You have aftermarket injectors?

Have you checked your mechanical timing? Popping may come from the engine being out of time. Compression is also a bit low, not out of spec but low.

This could be your problem. Misfire = fuel not burning and a portion of it will wash down the cylinder. If possible use a datalogger to find which cylinder is misfiring. You can also unplug spark plug wires one by one if you have to.Quote:

I was thinking the lower limit was 125 when I typed the other message.
Thats on a VR4. On a DOHC upper limit is marked as something like 180 per the manual, but most people see 210. I to this day think its a typo. SOHC's upper limit is 172 with a lower limit value of 124 IIRC.
Just a FYI, black smoke = Fuel, Blue = Oil, White = coolant.
