The wiring isn't stock and I cant really tell where that other thing is mounted but I'm guessing old cell phone crap.
Gotta pull some trim and carpet to see where those wires head to. The previous owner must've been using them for some type of accessory. I'd bet you can just pull them out once you yank the trim and roll the carpet back a hair.
My guess would be a after market amp due to red if it's power wire and yellow blue for remote wire but that's my guess as far as the mount goes looks like a little antenna like the one on my 03 caddilac rear window for sirrus or onstar
Im not too familiar with the audio system this car came with, but for a 1992 TT would there be an amp in the trunk stock?
No stock amps in the trunk for any year!
The mount is an old cell phone mount and the wires are most likely the wires for the charger for the cell phone. Especially if the cell phone was the old brick type that had the brain mounted somewhere else "Trunk" and the handset mounted up front.
One of the 91's I had still had the brain and antenna mounted in the drivers side trunk compartment. I spent hours tearing out all of the old power, antenna, phone crap! :P

looks like it leads to this... what is this??
Probably exactly what DrGonzo said... Guessing that would be the Brain. Cause that definitely doesn't look like an amp.
Maybe it's a black box like on a A/C for driving data lol j/k
Looks like an old Motorola brand brain for a cell phone. It is definitely for some sort of old cell phone. Rip that old POS out of there and remove any wiring connected to it. :)
Looks like I guessed right unless that's a CB.
thanks guys. its coming out this weekend when i get back from school for spring break. no need for that!
As far as i know i think most of the wiring has been disconnected for some time now. Hans found those wires probably two years ago but we never looked into what they were from.
