A highway pull on 13ts

I was just looking through my youtube videos and came across this one again.

It was somewhere over 170 according to the speedo, which of course isn't accurate at all. I couldn't get a GPS lock on my phone that night so I have no idea what the real speed was, but whatever speed it was, its' one hell of a rush. It was somewhere well into 5th gear on a 6-speed with 18s.

I'm thinking I might delete this one soon due to legal concerns. :lol: Though this doesn't compare to 185 in my stealth on that closed course in mexico.

Our speedos are pretty accurate really. At most, it would have been about 5mph off at those speeds for a 5 speed, and even less for the 6 speed.

Nice video, how did you mount the camra? I looked pretty stabe throughout the run.

Its so funny, after going fast like that even if you slow down to 100 mph it seems sooooo slow. Highway speeds are a crawl.

+1 for speedo was probably accurate. Highest I've GPS'd is 135 and it was spot on.

It was sandwiched between the passenger headrest and seat, worked out pretty well. I'm going to make some sort of roll-cage mount for it once I get the cage in.

Nice video! I love how you just pick up your camera, snap a pic of the speedo, and check it over at 150+mph like it was nothing hahaha. I got a good laugh out of that.

Yeah that is fast. I got my stealth to go 175 and I dont think I will do it again cuz it freaked me out. I had more to go but stopped.

Hmmm. my 5 Speed reads off. but its a percentage off. speedo reads 60 im traveled 57 (gps confirmed) speedo reads 85 im actually going 80, 110 is actually 104, 135 is actually 128.

So im actually reading around 5% fast. Not terrible, but means that on a top speed run of 160+ is really like 150+. Not a huge difference, and nothing that Im worried about since I rarely do over 140. 140 is hauling ass btw. It feel weird to slow back down to 70 and feell like you aren't moving

1st gens are less accurate. Speedo sensor gear has less splines.

I saw this on youtube the other day actually.

Do you know if 5% off is about right? I mean it sounds reasonable

My perception changes after 120mph...reminds me of that Speed Racer episode of the car that goes so fast you get mesmerized...anyway.... When past 120 I feel like I should be having the roll cage and hope nothing jumps out at you, especially in a night run. Cool video.

What kind of boost are you running?

I'm not really sure because I don't have a boost gauge. I kept turning up the boost until I got some amount of knock on the logger, then turned it back a bit. It was just before the point where it would hit fuel cut, however much boost that might be...

I remember the very first time I hit 160 in my stealth, It was awesome, so smooth and it was no problem getting up to speed. I told myself I wouldn't do it again after that. But then I found a nice straight black-top road not too far from my house, I'd hit 150+ a few nights per week, whenever I got bored I'd go for a run. I kind of miss that car. But anyway, I won't be doing any more high-speed runs until I get a cage in the car. Its' just too dangerous.

well, I'm calling authorities. lol cuz I know exactly where you did it. btw you were going UP the hill. that is very good. 140 is the fastest I ever went, cuz of traffic ahead. it was a blast.
PS: those 13Ts were with stock injectors, iirc.

lol, yeah most of the pull was uphill. It was stock injectors with a hotwired walbro, thats about it. But it still pulled much better up top than my previous cars on 9bs. I'm sure they'll be really fun once you get your car running.

I'll go take a look at that flaring kit in a bit, I found the box.

Ah stock injectors ok. That gives me an idea. :D
