Yes, but 81 Wagoneer so Can't help ya.

I don't own one, but my brother has had a few XJ's (Cherokees) over the years and my parents had a 96 Grand Cherokee. I've worked on about each one of them.
What do you want to know? Mods, issues, general information? BTW, do you mean a Grand Cherokee?? They stopped making the Cherokee in 2001.
LOL, just realized this is Tony. How you doing?
Girl has nice TJ and I have a stock (soon to not be) YJ :)
02 GC Overland here and I've worked on others, happy to lend advice on what I can . . .
I had a 2007 4x4 Jeep Wrangler. That was a lot of fun to drive and in Glamis, CA my jeep was out performing the stupid dune buggies people put money into by them being stuck in the sand. I was thinking about getting another jeep but I might go with one of the newer style tacomas.

I've owned 4 Wranglers, 1 ZJ, 3 XJs, and currently have one Cherokee lifted on 35's. The website listed above will help you out.
only thing i can tell you is ill never own one.
I had a ZJ and a WJ and loved em both, no problems with either.

That comment was stupid because it had no reason to ever be said. The post was not "what kind of car does ppi12x4 like bestest?"
Secondly, the Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee have very little in common other than the Jeep emblem. I wouldn't own a Grand, but I didn't say that...it's rude.
Third, stock for stock my Wrangler makes your Montero look like a minvan...I know, because I have both a Montero and a Jeep (and I've had more than one of both). In addition, the off-road support for Jeeps means dollar for dollar, you can just get more from a XJ than a Montero. I like my Montero, and my Jeep. It IS possible to like both.
notice i didnt try to compare to a wrangler.
second...doesnt matt have a 1st gen? its been a while.
anyone can like whatever they want. personally i like vehicles that dont leak oil on a daily basis and have toothpicks for axles.
as for aftermarket support...sure. but thats along the same lines as saying a civic is better than a 3s because its easier to mod.
touche' :) Who is this?
1st gen 3s? Or Monty? We don't have any 3s' now.
He did have a 1st gen Montero, now he has a 2nd gen. I liked the 1st gen better. He's looking to add a Galant vr4 to the family, we need a grocery getter. :)
I have an 05 Grand Cherokee Limited with a Hemi. :D
91vr4n00maxima. Awesome, nice to see you made it here.
Nice. I'm impressed.
Had a GC with the 4.0 for a few years, sold that about 8 yrs ago, only problems I ever had were brakes chewing up rotors faster than they should, and electrical gremlins with the power windows.
Now I have an 03 Liberty, it's simple, plain, can tow my car crosscountry no problem, and takes 87 octane. What's not to like?
I'd like to see a Montero take mods like a Jeep can. 98 XJ owner here. Great rides!

Don't know why all the hate for Jeep/Chrysler but whatevs.
I and my family have had Cherokees, Grand Cherokees (every generation), Liberties, Wranglers, and tons of other Chrysler products, no major problems with any of them. Great vehicles. My Overland is about to turn 100k, it runs great, I love the 4.7 HO.
Its a grand cherokee.
Just wanting to know what to watch out for. It sounds like it has a case of lifter tick. Changed oil and it helped a little. Rotors got chewed up easily like someone else said. Other than that it is flawless. But with over 100k on the clock and a baby on the way I want to be prepared.
gas mileage is decent on the highway but sucks in town. only trans problems we have is I broke the plastic end off the cable that comes from the trans to the throttle body. that messed the the 1-2 shift and it seems like the TC lock-up. i pulled one off an older GC in the pull-a-part with the same motor but its not quiet the same and the 1-2 shift is still hard.
What engine / tcase is your WJ? Pics!
If you have a 42RE tranny in it (i.e. 4.0 w/ 242tc) just make sure to take care of it ...
My girl has an '02(?) wrangler. It's moderately fun to cruise around w/ no doors or roof in the summer, however I hate to work on the thing. It always seem to need a completely random-sized wrench or tool that I do not own for the simplest of jobs. Nothing has ever gone as easy as it should on the damn thing. Even swapping the TPS last week turned into an epic battle between good and evil. That aside, I don't own the thing, so I don't wave...ever...sorry.

RWD
I don't know why Jeep makes 2WD vehicles. It's like Lamborghini making a 4 cyl car.
My thoughts exactly. I actually have a 2000 Grand Cherokee 2WD 4.0 sitting in my yard right now. It belongs to a friend of mine. His dad gave it to him because it popped the head. I told him he's stupid for even taking it because its not going to save him in the winter. Granted I have driven RWD in the winter when I had my Mustang, but I know how to drive. He's not the brightest crayon in the box though.
I have a 97 XJ and know a lot about them, had an 88 XJ also... I can help if u have a specific question... Selling the 97 XJ because I'm getting a 91 Stealth RT/TT Saturday!!!<drooling>
