**NEW RECORD** most powerful 9b car ??

I posted this up on the other site but thought i would share my budget build potential record breaker with you lot :cocksure:

Mods are as follows

560cc injectors
255 Walbro (not hard wired)
custom 2.5" fmic pipes
ebay FMIC core
PitRoad M Titanium Cat Back
SAFC
ITC
20% meth mix run directly in gas tank
18psi boost

EVERYTHING else is bone stock

10:1 na engine untouched
stock 9b's
stock intake and airbox
stock pre cats
stock down pipe
2.5" test pipe
stock fpr
stock fuel lines
stock HT leads and cheap copper plugs


We did actually make more power but had massive spark blowout so didnt bother keeping the dodgy graphs. it made 393 at 1.5bar and i can usually run 1.65bar knock free :cool3:


our dynos measure HP (not BHP) is the direct equivelant of your AWHP so this is the same as your 388AWHP.

Good stuff! Didn't think those 10:1 slugs could boost that high with 9b's.

They can produce the peak boost but can't hold the boost as from what I understand the engine consumes the air far quicker than the little tubs can produce it... Especially on the JDM AWD NA box (basically an EVO I/II/III)

A bloody horrible one lol.

The stock NA 225mm exedy clutch survived all the way upto 1.4bar !!

I now have a Competition Clutch Stage 4 6puck sprung clutch. Very juddery on slow movements but grabs like hell !!

Ha ha, yeah us Brits have too go through this EVERYTIME we post any graphs....Even though we have backed up our dyno numbers over and over again with trap times showing what our dynos spit out as flywheel is the same as what yours spit out as WHP.

Track times may or may not happen. It will cost me around $500 to drive 160 miles each way too the track with fuel, meth and entry fees just to try and prove to the haters. If they don't like my numbers or agree with them it's tough lol.

We only have 2 proper tracks and on standard RWYB days there is zero track prep so it's actually very very slippery (more so than the road !)

Hi,

As above regarding track times although I will try go when there is something happening at the track again.

What I can tell you is this... A mate has a 13g TT with blow through at 17psi making 387.6whp and 380wtrq. On the motorway I can cruise along at 70-80mph in 5th gear, he pulls up along side me in 3rd gear and when we hit the gas I just edge ahead (even though he is in 3rd and I stay in 5th !!)

The JDM cars have precats on the turbos but they are empty... While this is not as restrictive as cats it's not as free flowing as precat eliminators . The main car has been removed using a 2.5" test pipe.


I will upload photos later of IC setup and pipe work :)


The thing is people are claiming the numbers could be fudged and whatever other excuses they can come up with (even though a USA dyno dynamics operator has commented saying they legit). I didn't know the record before I put the car on the rollers. The garage who done the runs has not touched the car so it means NOTHING too him what power the car did or didn't make.

We threw it on and ragged it giving us the numbers I made. Only afterwards when I saw the numbers was I absolutely amazed and started looking for what the highest 9b car was.

I got nothing to hide .

My car is daily form is 3800lbs with me and 1/2 fuel. Do you know what the 9b record is for a 100% full interior car (with sub,amp, tools the lot)

Also the figure given by Virtual Dyno when set to dynojet, what unit is that given as in default mode ?

can't really help you there. i know 11's has been hit before, but i don't know for sure what the record is. austin's completely gutted 9b car ran 10.9's.

I take nothing away form Austins car and it is a true machine build with one prupose in mind..running off 10's which it did !

Virtual Dyno logs in Dynojet mode, are those WHP figures displayed ?

Should be WHP as far as I know.

so if i load VD graghs showing the car making 390WHP (it actually did 393 on the dyno but gragh was messy) would people FINALLY understand our Dyno Danamics here give a figure IDENTICAL to your WHP but for some reason lable it as 'flywheel power' ??

Temp and baro correct and you will have very accurate figures. Smoothing 2 or 3 should be used as well. If those smoothing settings change the numbers considerably, you may want to search for a smoother section of road.

Baro is correct as i am at sea level, temp is near as dammit too at around 70-80f when the logs were done. The logs corrolate to pretty much exactly what the dyno came up with. The very slight differences between the two is negligble . Dropping too smoothing 2 lowers figures by around 16WHP which too be honest is even more accurate ! It now shows 373/465 @ 1.16bar. The 388/485 runs were done at 1.3 bar.

Hopefully i have proved to people the car has now made the highest power on 9b's with dyno proof to back up.

So as requested here is my homebrew IC pipework :cocksure: I had a local Fabricator make the pipes and the IC ducting.


First up was to open up the 97 fornt bumper. There are two flat sections that cannot be seen unless laying on the floor looking upwards, these were removed giving more fresh air too the cooler. (left side is removed already in pic)

fitted a u bend to cooler, this is the hot side which i have taken the long way round so it can also radiate heat and the cold side has a short direct route too throttle.

I have a PitRoad M 4" Titanium Cat back, however that is fitted too a 2.5" test pipe lol. The Down pipe is stock as are the pre cats, although the JDM pre cats and down pipe are empty they are not as free flowing as pre cat eliminators.


I am running around 20-22* at 4000rpm (peak torque) and climbing to 28-30* at peak HP/rpm

Hi jeff,

I'm not sure I understand your question.

The U bend is pre IC, it runs along the front of the car in 63mm black silicon where it's fitted to a 90* bend which then meets up with a Y pipe before joining the two turbo hot sides.

The cold side comes straight off the cooler with a 90* bend and straight up to the throttle body.

My theory behind this routing was A, the hot side wanted to be longer to allow as much heat to dissipate before going through cooler.

B, the cold side needed to be as short and direct as possible.

C, I wanted as little pipe work as possible in the heat soaked engine bay.

My setup MUST work as it is the cheapest eBay core I could find yet with some ducting and custom pipes I see a max of 15c above ambient at the throttle even when pushing the 9b's way into hot as hell air zone lol

How far below the bumper is the pre IC pipe? From the pics it looks like none. I really like no plumbing around the timing belt area. It also has the pipes routed away from the turbo's hotsides. I love it!!! Just really wondering about ground clearance.

I misinterpreted which one was pre and which one was post IC. Your explanation got me back on track. Thanks.

The pre piping sit INSIDE the bumper skin so nothing protrudes at all. The nice thing is also the car looks nice and stock without loosing fogs and no visible pipes hanging out the front bumper.

Also with the engine by routing as is I an replace spark plugs in 20min with only the throttle pipe needing removing.

The front turbo hot pipe to the y pipe is actually the stock rubber one that would go to the stock side mount normally and the rear one is another stock y pipe hose used connected to the upper custom section.

I think this kind of proves the point Elton has been making all along that for whatever reason (and I don't really care what it is) the UK FWHP is pretty much equivalent to US AWHP. In fact, the biggest variance is one of my runs where the car was making around 50 hp MORE at the track than it had dyno'd earlier in the year. Atmospheric differences between dyno session and track session? I don't know but it is interesting that the UK dyno number was less not more after claims of inflating hp numbers by reporting as FWHP has been suggested earlier.

By the way, my dyno numbers were produced on the same dyno as Elton's by the same dyno operator.

Anyone care to add their KNOWN car weight for a given trap and dyno plot?

Hopefully I can now finally enjoy my record without needing to justify it anymore :)

Ps, I'm going back soon to try make more as I know there was around 5-8whp more when we stopped last time. I had miss fires in high boost and ran out if fuel correction to lean off any more than 10.5 afr at the top. Both issues have now been addressed :)

From what I'm gathering the pipe literally sits or hides in between the bottom of the bumper? Pretty good idea, I would never have thought of that.

Been on there for 8 VERY hard months at 1.2 bar minimum . I had it apart at the weekend too finally fit a BOV and everything is as new as the day it was fitted. This is proper 316 stainless pipes with 5ply reinforced silicon piping . Absolutely everything on this 'build' was thought through with one goal only... Be reliable and work HARD :)

i have one complaint. you should have posted on this site first. and then MAYBE share with that other "lot".

That's how the Dejon front mount works, essentially, with the pipe running under. Yours looks a lot better, though. :)

I dont run a BOV at all and dont have surging issues, when i fitted a BOV i found i got fairly bad stammering as i trimmed the throttle after very small positive boost and nothing on cruise.

The best thing is being on the NA AWD box its pretty much always on boost , especially on motorway trips lol.
