whats your thought on this? TOB?

My RPS stage 4 unsprung 6 puck has roughly 3000 miles on it? had the flywheel stepped and new TOB. had pretty noticable clutch chatter in nuetral, but fine in gear or clutch depressed. Never slips and im making 640lbs of trq. Now, i am wondering if my TOB is bad or if i need a new PP? if its chattering, and i press the clutch in a couple times in nuetral it will go away? wierd. With my tranny getting the new synchros and the tranny gone thru, was hoping to not have to mess with the clutch. flywheel has maybe 2000 miles since the last tranny episode. Atleast i am getting friggin mcgiever fast at dropping the friggin thing. lol

Just not sure if its more of an anoyance or if this will hurt the clutch sooner than later.

It's just an annoyance. My brand new TOB chatters too. Stab the clutch pedal and the noise is immediately gone. I've heard some people over the years blame that noise on the input shaft bearing of the transmission, but mine is brand new OEM (installed by Mitsu). Regardless, virtually every noise these cars make that goes away when you disengage the clutch is borderline normal, LOL, but definitely not tranny-dropping worthy.

sweet. no, i didnt drop the tranny becasue of that. lol I dropped it to get the synchros replaced. its amazing the difference how smooth this tranny that TRE built spins sompared to my old beat to shit one. just glad to have jacks taking care of me

my 92 chatters a little, but the trans in my 95 does not. The 95 also seems to have more bearing pre-load.

If pressing the clutch lightly stops the sound, it's the tob. If you have to stop the input shaft from spinning, it could be loose springs in the disk, play in the disk to input shaft, a synchro rattling, or a transmission bearing.

I would check for play in the hub of the clutch disc. Make sure those rivets are nice and tight on a solid hub disc.

Ah yeah, good point regarding the depth of the pedal when the noise stops.

Some guy at an autozone told me my engine had a rod knock LOL when I pulled in and parked,my TOB doesn't even chatter as much as some other cars if heard but anyway I was like no I'm just here to get new floor mats for my moms stratus lol

Mine didn't do it until I installed the solid hub clutch, same TOB. Usually quiet when trans cold and hear it chirping in neutral after driving for awhile. I had assumed some sort of gear rattle. But it does go away with a slight press on clutch pedal.

I could never hear anything over the sound of the exhaust except for the lifters ticking. :confused2:

Shake an input shaft out of the trans, and you can hear the synchros rattle between the hub/slider, and gear if the assembly, and springs are worn.

Yeah it is. I will probably swap the JIC exhaust back on if MTC rebuilds my turbos. Otherwise, I'll go bigger and add another muffler or something. It's a 3.5" DR downpipe, 3.5" DR race cat, and then splits into twin 3" Aeroturbine mufflers. I think it was the only particular 3.5" full exhaust DR ever made. I don't know that Adam ever made more than one in existence. Needless to say it wouldn't be long trip friendly but it sure flows.

My 92 and my 95 both rattle. I replaced the TOB assuming that was the problem and it changed nothing.

ya, i wasnt sure if it would cause an issue to the clutch itself. Ever since i went to the unsprng disc it has done this.
