What say you?
What say you?
I thought I remember reading that his partner owns the jigs, and design.
We both "own" the design, but he has the drawings and the welding jigs.
A couple of months ago, I thought about trying to contact him, but I let it slide....
The last time I did speak with him, I mentioned that we would have to be competitive (pricing) and I never heard from him again (I guess he wasn't willing to his share of the $169 shipped price I told him I wanted to meet....)
Bob.
OK I was half right
How much would he want for the drawings and jigs? This is such a great product to let it go because someone wants to be stubborn/selfish/greedy/what-have-you. Would it be worth buying him out?
With 2 son's presently in college and a third starting next August, shifters are VERY low on the priority list, sorry.....
Bob. :)
Hey, Bob, I already have a shifter and voted yes :D ...when you get the time of course ;)
That's OK, I voted Lawdogg :)
Damn, I would have liked to have an OhioSpyderman shifter in my Spyder, it's only fitting.
PM'd ya Bob!
bump 5 speed shifter for sale in the for sale section :)
Is Bob's short shifter superior to the Seattle one? Hopefully they are in the same league. Just curious because I ordered the Seattle one from Ninja Performance last week:p
Mine was not bearing loaded, and used all the stock hardware, but I got lots of praise from my customers.....
Blast from the past..... 3s (Stirling’s Short Shifter) – Installation Instructions
Bob. :)
This is still one of the best mods I had ever done to either of my cars. :)

I tried to get them reproduced (with Bob's consent), but the place I use didn't even want to jig it up to make 100 of them. Sucksorz
If you can't get Bob's (no experience with his), the Seattle is great. I have one, and someone earlier said one of the best mods I have done. (though not Bob's)
Plus Pauly could use the buisness about now as well.
I just saw the post about Pauly, I had no clue.
He and I have had a friendly business relationship, I respect his work and he appreciated mine.
PLEASE, if you need a shifter, buy from Pauly....(not from the Ebay sellers)....
Bob.
ball bearings are a gimmick. They don't affect anything, these are greased with bushings. Its a nice buzzword though.
Says the man who doesn't own one :suspect:
If I remember right Paul don't make em personally anymore
Here's a comparison between Paul and Bob's shifters:

One may be first gen and one second. I don't remember since I bought Paul's years ago and haven't used it yet. Bob's needs some new bushings to tighten things up since it was installed on a long time member's car. I was lucky to find it. Eventually I will try them both out to see which one I like better vs stock. It's extremely low priority though. It wouldn't be too hard to make Bob's shifter. I'd have to find a place to water jet some pieces or else I'm stuck cutting everything on a bandsaw. I already have a TIG welder and making a jig would be easy enough. I don't have time though plus I don't think there's a demand for it or much money in it anyways. I'm sure that's why they fell by the wayside in the first place. I'll probably keep it for something possibly in the future. :)
If you're going to buy one definitely go to 3SX and get the Seattle Roller Bearing Short Throw Shifter. Paul is battling cancer so anything helps including more parts sales.
Make it happen!!!!
I was lucky enough to find one of these in the classifieds a while ago. Best "non stock" shifter I have ever used. And I hate aftermarket shifters with a passion.
Bob maybe you could approach your friend saying you want to jig up 2 more for your sons rather than try to get him to go back into business. My Seattle shifter came yesterday. It looks like a quality item. Install time was about 20 minutes, 5 of which were spent trying to remove the old cotter pin. The throw feels really nice. It's definitely a shorter throw. I haven't driven the car yet but I think I'll be happy with it.
I have Bob's shifter in mine and I love it! (I was lucky to buy the car with it installed already.)
