Due to size alone it will have to go freight.

definitely look into a freight company and probably the best way to secure it is to get a pallet and then build a plywood box around it that is attached to the pallet so it doesnt get broken.
If its light enough I'd try Fed Ex...Ive shipped bumpers that way
Where is it comming from, and where is it going?
It's going to South Texas.
Due to size it has to go freight.
Fedex charges a $55 fee for oversize packages but will probably cost about 125-150 with freight or fedex
If you know someone that has an account you can get a good rate. We get something like a 85% discount at work on freight. You'll also likely want it shipped to a business with a loading dock to avoid additional charges.
loading dock not a real concern, I had a trans shipped to my church, I met the truck at the chruch, backed my truck up to the semi, smooth like butter from semi trailer to truck bed. BUT a commercial address WILL be cheaper.
I think it more has to do that the delivering to a business address means it is easier to drive the semi to.
That's what I was getting at too. If it is not a commercial address there are additional fees.
IIRC FedEx Ground or Home Delivery has a 75 or 100lb weight limit (think dimensional weight), anything over that will have to go Express ($$$) up to 150lbs.
Fed Ex Home delivery weight limit is 70lbs.
FedEx Size and Weight Restrictions
• With FedEx Express domestic services, you can ship packages up to 150 lbs.; up to 119” in length and 165” in length and girth.
• With FedEx Express international services, you can ship packages up to 150 lbs.; up 10 108” in length and 130” in length and girth.
• With FedEx Ground services, you can ship packages up to 150 lbs.; up to 108” in length and 165” in length plus girth.
The length and girth formula is simple; length, height, and width of the package are taken.
• Length and girth equals length plus 2 x the width and 2 x the height
• L + (2 x W) + (2 x H) = Length and girth
Where would I go to find freight companies?
One I used when I shipped an ATX trans was DB Schenker. I shipped a 250 lb crate from PA to FL for something like $175 with them.
I had the same issue. I called a local garage that I know the owner of and he let me have it picked up there. I gave him the cash for the pick up and he wrote a company check to pay for it since he, obviously, didn't have an account.
I tried shipping my cf hatch through Fedex ground but it was too large so you definitely have to go freight. Uship and freightquote.com were the two places I checked into. I think it was about $250 to go from the midwest to the west coast.
Forrest shipped me his trans UPS freight.
In my experience FedEx/UPS freight is more expensive than strictly freight carriers.
My trans cost 255 to ship to me through UPS, and that weight in at like 256 or 260 IIRC.
That's odd, what kind of information did you put into the price calculator?
Ya last time i used frieghtquote.com I got quoted an absurd price.
That's funny. I only got quoted $200 for something of the same size but 30 lbs heavier. It was also going to a business address with a loading dock though.
yeah the dock makes a big difference
I dont understand some of that pricing you guys are getting....I've had side skirts and a hood shipped from Japan for 135$ and we get shipments of metal thru freight companies at the shop and they are upto 12 feet long and weighing over 400# per stick and it doesn't matter if we get 1 stick or 10 the freight is still about 155$ per delivery.
@92pearltt
I have access to a loading dock if you want to see if that helps pricing.
