ebay Y-pipe, GM MAF? anybody ever do this?

About to take the plunge to hook up my 3" GM MAF, anybody ever use one of the ebay y-pipes cut in half for this?

Just looking to see how anybody else's experience was with this, etc. Or if anyone else had any other creative solutions for getting the GM MAF installed that don't include FMIC and aren't the Dejon 2-piece Y-pipe.

If it comes down to it, I'll end up using this thread as a mini build log for the Y-pipe and how/where it was modified, what size couplers were used, etc.

IIRC xtreme cut up a DNP and had success with it.

I cut a section out of my fmic piping to fit the gm sensor. It was the correct size for the GM sensor though. You should make sure the diameter will work with the size maf and couplers you will be using. They do make reducing couplers so that may be an option.

that's pretty much the plan, using the reducing couplers. I was hoping someone had already done it and would know the size off the top of their head, looks like i'm going to be guinea pigging!

Be sure to weld/roll lips onto the y-pipe. There's no reason it won't work, it just might be awful looking depending on the reducers.

Another thing, be sure not to use the Z06 MAF. I believe it's the LT1 MAF that's 3"... That's what I have in my FMIC piping and what you will want. Your y-pipe might be 2.75", not sure.

I use an eBay y pipe cut really short, and a 3" 90* elbow with my meth nozzle in it. Works great.

Yeah, I've already got the 3" LT1 MAF, just waiting on the y-pipe to come in (I don't want to cut up the pipe I'm using right now) to get some exact measurements/figure out the best place to cut through and then order appropriate couplers from there. 2nd to worse case scenario, I've got a bad Y-pipe and a couple of useless couplers. Only $50 or so down the drain.

I did this without the GM MAF with a DNP setup, because the DNP pipes are something like a quarter or half inch larger than the stock piping and getting them to fit with the stock y pipe was a nightmare. Otherwise the ebay y-pipe fits like shit, looks like shit, and is just shit in general.

It can work, just prepare for some work on your end, especially if you're using stock IC piping. If you aren't using the stock IC piping, then this shouldn't be too difficult.

I cut mine, moved the BOV flange infront of the cut, retigged it, and got couplers to splice it in.
