Came across this completely on accident, also happens to be within a half hour of me. Doesn't seem to be done yet, anybody know anything about it?
Theyre expecting 12 second quarter miles with FWD. I might call and drop by some day and see how things are, im pretty interested. I might also warn them about using the stock transmission while expecting instant torque applications and 12 second 1/4s :P

the idea came to me after watching "gadget's electric garage". it's a fairly simple process. replace the IC engine with a suitable motor; fab a custom bellhousing to use the stock transmission; install battery pack. that's really all there is to it.
yes, you could easily do this to a vr4 as well. which would be even cooler than the 67 camaro they made for anthony kedis in that episode.

wow thats crazy pretty cool for sure but i dont see anybody else wasting there time and money with this.
Yeah money is the only issue.
I designed and helped build an EV in highschool for a program that tries to get a single seater to go more laps around a track than everyone else. Three people could easily cary the car and even the motor and setup for that was expensive. Motors big enough for a full weight vehicle can be found on ebay relatively cheap, but batteries to make it farther than two blocks adds up FAST.

400 horsepower 1250 ftlbs torque and that was maybe 3 years ago, i know hes deep into the 10's now
10 bucks says most of the 40 grand into the camaro went into batteries, im pretty sure its tube framed too.
