So I'm planning on sending my car to Ray. I could try to drive it myself but I feel shipping may be a lot easier. Has anyone here shipped their car a long distance and if so, what company would you guys recommend for me to get a quote from for the shipping?
D, you would spend enough shipping it to finance the trip - as long as you don't bring your posse. :)

^I don't know about that. The money may be similar, but man, that's a 24 hour drive. You need another buddy with a car to follow. So, you have to pay for their gas(and time), plus a hotel room. And that's just to get the car there and get yourselves back. Then you get to do it over again when you go back to get the car. *assuming it's all driving, as opposed to driving it there solo, flying back, and vice versa. Still, a lot of time involved, and 2 flights.

I was quoted a couple different times right around 1100 for WA state to Delaware last year. I said F it and just drove 2100 miles to NG.

In 2009, I shipped a VR4 from FL to NJ for $390 one way. I forget the company, but it some company I found online. Just to give a ballpark idea of cost.

I didn't have any good experiences with uship, the prices are too high, the "carriers" are just agencies that farm out the work at a margin, and then uship takes a chunk off the top too.
I had an absolutely awesome experience with Misty and Jack Webb of Golden Key Express, Meet the Staff of Golden Key Express, they were awesome. Jack took much time and care on my Stealth, gave me his cell # and called me at various times as he drove across the country, just an awesome guy who gets my thumbs up 100%. I paid them $1500 to ship from northern Vermont to northern California.
NE to Long Island is going to cost you around $1500 and that's if your car moves under its own power and you don't mind an open trailer. It can also take a month or arrange shipping sometimes.

Agreed with Greg..When I moved to TN I planned to ship my second car down from NY, but the time lines to make it work and the cost for an open trailer was rather high (they broke it down somewhere around $200 for initial trailering, $.40 per mile, and then another $150 to take it off WITH the car capable of moving under it's own power) something near a grand total as I recall..Plus transport itself was going to take like 2-3 weeks as I would be one of the first ones on. Ended up just selling the car long distance rather than spending the money.
I used a broker all 4 times I shipped a car and was only unsuccessful on one car in Albany. It was wrecked and inoperable which didn't help either so I had to make the trip to NY to get it which still cost me around $650 in gas and hotels. I shipped an inop car from VA to KS for $650, inop from NV to KS for $450 which shouldn't have been that low but got lucky, and an operational car from GA to KS for $700 I believe. All of the brokers use a transportation forum where they post up for a carrier with an open spot that takes that route. I can't remember the forum name off the top of my head but I'll try to find it.
