JimVR4's Spyder VR4 Chrome Tuning Experience
Well, my build is pretty much done. A lot of small issues kept the car down but she will not quit. Recently I've been fighting with her.
Current condition and Mods:
Motor: 3.0, Pampena pistons and rings, stock rods. Assembled and measured by me. 120K service completed with all new gaskets, new pulleys, new hydraulic adjuster, all OEM. Gates racing belt. Heads rebuilt, new VSS, 3G lifters, resurfaced.
Fuel: Supra pump, hot wired, 560 injectors
Air: Stock MAF (have EVO 399), stock piping and SMIC, rebuilt TB, no leaks
Exhaust: Gutted rear precat, stock front precat, stock DP, stock catback
Flash ECU: flashed injector size and latencies for 560 injectors
OK so here's what is happening. The car wants to stumble while cruising and die at stop signs. I've been into boost a couple of times and she pulls hard. I ran some logs and found the O2 sensors were not cycling very regularly. Since they were original and a little over 100K miles I decided to replace them with new ones. No change in the behavior. By the way I did pull the plugs and they look normal to lean I would say. Not oily, black or wet.
Today I decided to run the stock ECU. There was NO stumbling or wanting to die. The car ran perfectly. I have a DVM hooked up to the fuel pump and I am reading around 10V for idle and cruise and it jumps to 12.5V when I push it so I know the hot wire is working right. (By the way this hot wire is my own creation with no use of the power resistors and no cutting into the stock wiring).
So what the heck am I doing wrong with the flash ECU? Could it be bad? I'm going out to run a log with the stock ECU when my laptop gets charged enough. For some reason my standalone Tactrix 2.0 didn't capture a log the first time.
