I can so relate to Richie, reminds me of a quote: "I used to cry because I did not have shoes, then I met a man who had no feet."
The greatest advantage that he had like me is that we both grew up not knowing any different. We both learned how to accomplish a task, just different then "normal" folks. The true adversity is to have full functional (insert body part here) while growing up, then lose it. Now you have the frustration of needing to learning all over again.
Personally I think I rather have the frustration of learning it differently than needing to learn it over again.
