I too am scatter-brained. I go to do one thing, and see something else along the way so I start on it, and then find something else yet again.
I do it at home and at work. I have to write stuff down all the time, otherwise I will forget what I was originally supposed to do.
Pretty much the story of how my 120k + bearings ended up entailing a different tranny, 13T turbo upgrade, new heads, reringing the pistons, new crank, new oil cooler, new FMIC and a whole mess of other parts. Kept seeing other little things that didn't necessarily need to be replaced but I just couldn't help myself. Latest was new tie rod ends when I went to go bolt the front suspension up..
The following is a conversation to help a member out. I will not divulge the name of said member, but will leave this here for your enjoyment...
Member: Im thinking the oil on ground is either trans or xfer case
Bill: should be able to tell by the thickness
Member: its a thick oil
Bill: the not engine
Bill: test it by tasting
Member: engine is over filled man....
Member: and it was leaking oil into the intercooler
Member: it wouldn't make sense that the engine would leak out, but still be over filled
Bill: taste test, will tell you what it is
Member: Ive never tasted motor oil, or gear oil
Bill: if a bit salty it is trans gear oil, if soar it is engine
Member: LOL ok...
Member: give me a min... altho this sounds like a set up
