Inspection camera mentioned above was a waste of time. Removed the heads. Thought I was OK until I found the marks on the bore in cylinder no.6. I've decided to ditch this engine and buy a 2nd gen engine off a mate that also comes with a full set of brand new OEM pistons, rods and rings. So I'll assemble/rebuild this engine in the garage then swap it in.
