At this time you need a MAF. Brett wants to go the speed density setup, but there's a few issues with that. One mainly is memory space...

Ugh. Well then I think I am going to keep my EMU until you guys get it figured out...
Cant you add memory? :p
First off, thanks for all the work you guys have done so far. I haven't been too sure about what I was going to do to manage everything. It was pretty much going to be standalone. Well, this gives me another option. Now, I want something that is completely transparent. I want the car to work as if it came from the factory when I'm done. There are just a few things I'd like to know.
1. Are these going to come as complete kits? Is everything we need to get them running going to be included, or do we have to piece it all together? Get the ECU from you, a harness from someone else, etc?
2. Will you give us a complete list of what ISN'T going to work when switching over to this? I don't mind losing things like the boost control and gauge and the active exhaust. But I want to have an idea of everything that I would lose. And perhaps what I would need to do about if anything.
3. Will these come with documentation on some basics on how to tune them?
I have an open BOV on my car.
As far as I understand it, the ECUs can be modified by adding the correct parts to make most (if not all) of that stuff work. Since I dont have any of that stuff, I only bothered with the knock sensor circuit, because that is vital.
Well, I gathered that from reading previous posts. However, I was wondering that if we buy this from you will you guys include the list of everything that we would lose and perhaps a guide of what resistors to put where to get them back if we want them? Chances are I won't have to worry, but I want to be sure.
Also, what about the other two.
Well Im probably still out of the idea since I couldnt run speed density. Now if you guys figure that shizz out by spring I might jump on this.
Unless you want to revert back to a maf setup you will want to hold off until the development is further along before you switch over. And as far as I know adding memory is not an option.
The details are being worked out but as I understand it today the harnesses and ecu's will be offered via a single source. So you would purchase your harness and your ecu through this one location. The ecu's would come pre-altered and pre-flashed. All necessary documentation for required wiring changes would be included, like a fuel pump hot wire or any other change of that type. I know the guys working on the hardware changes are trying to develop a plug and play type solution so they will try to keep any wiring changes on the car to a minimum.
Information on sourcing the parts the any required wiring alterations will be posted once the specifics become more clear.
Just picked myself up a 99 montero ecu today. My car won't be together for a few months, but i'm looking forward to running this ecu.
