FYI... I know Toni hasn't fixed it yet on his dyno plotting tool, but the graphing for TT Eric's TQ curve is WRONG. It's shifted 500 rpm over to the left compared to where it SHOULD be based on his actual dyno graph plot. Toni has mentioned he'd fix this, but, he hasn't had time yet. So, that's why his tq numbers look hilarious, because it's.. wrong, :PQuote:

Jeff aka kywhitelightning had 19t HL's on a stock block vr4 with lots of meth and he bent one into a nice crescent moon. I would not at all be surprised if you did the same. And after you throw an engine off balance like that, you can't blame the bearings for not holding up.
On the engines I've seen fail with a bent rod... The rods folded because a cylinder filled with liquid. When we flooded a cylinder and the Otto cycle tried to compress the liquid and couldn't the rods bent. On one occasion the rods were strong so instead of bending we blew a a hole thru the block.
I'm somewhat skeptical that 500 foot pounds of torque is the bending threshold for stock rods. I'm pretty sure that Matt Monet put down 600 to the wheels on a stock motor with DR750's and had no problems. There so many variables involved.

Jfast, yeah there are a lot of variables! Understatement of the thread haha! The fluid filled cylinder makes perfect sense, but Chris is not a Joe Schmo... I don't think that was his issue. I should really dig through emails and find pics of Jeff's rod... Anything north of 500 torque and you are in potential rod bending territory (from what I have seen) on a 3s. He has a dyno of hitting almost 600 horsepower, but I have seen other guys run on the same dyno and the numbers were quite inflated (trap speed proven). Jeff's car WAS quite fast though, no doubt.
Smell is the easiest indicator. I would notice tuning if I was running rich in the 10s and it started diluting my oil that at hot idle my oil pressure dropped 2-3 psi. Double checking the odor of the oil and also the viscosity of the oil you could tell there was fuel in it.Quote:
