What did you do today to your 3/S?

Well, most of what I've done is work on piecing together a stroker motor for the car, but no details to release about that yet. And picked up a set of 68HTAs to go with it for now, although arm0red1 is going to work on something custom for me as well.

And...I went and bought another motorcycle :D Because having 2 in the garage that I'm never home to ride isn't enough.

Much obliged. It's a very nice one, probably my #2, favorite would probably be the Caspian Blue with gold accents that they also had for a year or two. The phantom black is nice though, and the gold accent is a beautiful touch. If I end up doing a black VR4, I'll probably end up with golden accents similar in tone to this.

Already on the list is a better exhaust (current Two Brothers is pretty loud and rough) that has ceramic coating to reduce heat and improve VE, deleting the EXUP and rerouting the secondary air set up before getting it dyno tuned. Have a set of Helibars on the way to improve the location of the grips and improve comfort, little longer as well so better leverage when I want to get aggressive with it. Watsen flush mounts that are already color matched to the body (ended up being rather expensive, but best flush mounts you can get IMO.) Set of tank grips are on the way, as well as a complete HID projector retrofit for better night time visibility.

Eventually will be getting new levers and a new wind screen, but probably going to wait till this winter to do it. Also going to go ahead and check valve clearances before long and do a complete brake job, regrease wheel bearings, etc. etc. Lots of little (but expensive) maintenance to be done over the winter.

Replaced the peeling, old window tint on the driver and passenger side doors of my Black 97 VR4. Can't believe I waited this long.

GF bought a 91 SL that had some issues, I found even more wrong with it once I started digging into it. Whoever worked on this car before needs to put the wrenches down and pony up for a real mechanic to do the work. Some of it was very dangerous.

What I've found and corrected so far:

DS tie rod end nut was finger tight.
PS tie rod end nut had two washers under it, only leaving a few threads holding on.
Passenger side brake caliper was reinstalled with a twist in the brake line.
Intermediate axle shaft was only held to the block with one bolt, finger tight. The other bolt was the wrong thread pitch and only put in a couple threads. I was able to find the correct bolt and repair the threads.

Still need to do:
PO replaced the radiator, left out the AC fan, didn't transfer over the sensors to turn on the main cooling fan. Also for some reason removed the resistor to control the low speed.


I already replaced the whole power steering rack because it was all kinds of blown out. 2nd gear has a good grind so I'll be swapping in a new trans at some point. Other than that it's mostly cosmetic stuff.

Hey Dave! Good to see you're still in the 3S game. Frank is in Texas, but he's kind of disappeared lately. As you can see, I'm in South Florida now, getting ready to make a move into the upper Keys.

I did it all myself, about 6 hours taking my time, 3-4 hours finding way to get the old steering wheel puller to fit and unlatch the old boss kit. Boy that was a nightmare! I enjoy having a quick release steering wheel plus, it's a nice theft deterant.

No pictures or videos at the moment, but swapped the exhaust on the Daytona out for a Jardine slip on and factory manifold that has been ceramic coated and had the EXUP removed. Hopefully helps with some of the heat issues. I have my doubts. I suspect I'll need to drop the cash for Swaintech to get a finish that will work.

Also put flush mount signals up front, and tank grips on. Currently working on popping this headlight apart so I can retrofit HID projectors in there, tomorrow I will be deleting the SAI and finishing the removal of the ram air flapper valve since that system is just noise reduction related (and is non operative atm.)

If I have time, will try to install my new clip ons and do the front brakes as well, but likely have to wait till next weekend to do it.
