its too bad that america is so caught up on the whole fact that soccer has low scoring games. its a very deep sport, and one of the most athletic-requiring sports i have ever seen. most of you all who are arguing that is not as good as the popular american sports... i can almost guarantee none of you have ever played competitive soccer, but of course you have played football and basketball - everyone here has. im not gonna sit here and debate, because its like arguing that the grass isnt green even when it is. a lot of the points thadd has brought up are actually quite good (and i NEVER say that :p)

I agree with both of you, but there is the phenomenon whereby one's appreciation of something like soccer is properly deepened only by total cultural immersion or, almost as typically, having played.
Soccer's popularity in the US grows almost in inverse proportion to the ever-so-slow ebbing of baseball as our national pastime.
