I know this is off topic but I just was looking on 3sx and prices and theyre selling dr turbos for almost 1500 dollars more than what Matt himself sells them. Crazy shit.
Got about 2 minutes from pulling my heads off the car....sneezed then went inside.
Slacker, back to the Cinnamon!
I finally received my plasti dip and EGR block offs so I can redo all of my trim and wiper arms this weekend, delete/clean up vac, and re-plumb the Pressure Control Valve. I should be in business after that.
Ya know, I sometimes think that. But for the most part, what choice do we have? Sure there are guys like Chris at NP, Terry at MP, Ray at PM, and Matt at DR...and I do support all of them. But 3sx has to make money on the hard to find stuff, but does it need to be so much? I guess to keep your doors open it does. Maybe they are staying true to a dying platform!? Hell IPS has almost completely shunned us! Their site speaks volumes to my statement! Try getting parts they use to carry a year ago. If you don't have car in current production, they aren't really looking for your business. Stas is selling off the last of the custom 3s stuff...check out his threads...speaks volumes by itself! When you go BIG, you forget the lil guys who helped you get there...
I support Steve at 3sx. I shop around sure, but when it's something I want new and a bit hard to find, that's where I go.
I go there as a last resort. But majority of parts I want\need they do no carry and have to be custom made, or other places sell for half price, or u can find at a junkyard.in equal or better condition, or u can get from Dealer/Auto Parts store.
Also i am more talking about parts available else ware. Such as DR turbos like said above, and other parts. Also the lack of quality in the custom parts they make like my downpipe or my test pipe.
I also still see IPS selling plenty of 3/S parts, i bought from them recently, and browse often. They r just dropping off the not so Hot parts from what Ive seen
Finished installing clutch yesterday, initial impressions, the OEM is world's better than the SPEC that a vendor of current topic sells it for.
I'm going to look for pricing for the OEM gear from a different vendor, probably result in a chapped ass considering how much I paid for it.
In agreement on overpricing at their site. I replaced the rear main seal while the transmission was out. Price I got it from Advance Auto was half of what they wanted for it
according to Stas IPS is still building the oil pans, so I think that the recent barrage of parts listings is just to get their name back out there. I ordered an oil cooler kit from them on Weds and it is out for delivery here today already.
It is possible that 3sx doesn't want to deal with the core charges on the turbos and is doing the "new" option, which Matt charges a premium for now. They need to make that clear on the site though.
Why the hell did this turn into a bash every one of our last remaining vendors thread?
They're all good for different parts. Make a new thread or let it go.
I wasn't bashing any of them... I stated what appears to be the obvious. I have supported them all! A LOT more than others due to the amount of 3s cars I have/work on. I was the BIGGEST IPS supporter until I kept getting wrong parts and had to pay to ship them back to hopefully get the right ones. CS has Now, their site just seems bare compared to what they use to have. I still buy from them...
Ok...back on topic, I will be diagnosing what seems to be a slight rod knock in my wifes R/T...I am crossing fingers it's something else! I am praying to the 3S Gods I have them on my side!!!
agreed. I buy from Chris @ Ninja or 3sx. 3sx is pretty decent on parts dependning on what you want. only thing is shipping. But, they gotta make money. If you think its too high, then dont buy it.
Last night found my fuel pump hose to the 400 was split wide open. took it apart, rewired and heat shrinked all the lines and crimped everything properly. Looks good now. only thing is the fuel guage float isnt working now...ugh. My wideband and oil pressure gauge now have no power to it. and i fukin had my rear hatch open, back my car like a foot in the garage to get more room to open my driver door and didnt realize the garage door wasnt fully open and hit the garage door with the rear hatch. put a small ding under the rear spoiler. After taht i about flipped so went inside then went to bed. Gonna leave the car alone for the rest of its life.
Anyone want it lol
Funny, last I checked these guys (I can only really speak for Matt because he is the only one I know) wear many hats. Matt has DR, other business ventures, a family... god forbid he used any of his free time on himself or more important matters than frequenting several forums... Matt is a guy that isn't going to say something unless it warrants it 99% of-the-time. A wise man speaks because he has something to say, a fool speaks because he has to say something. Trust me, I see his handle lurking online often enough. Hell, I was lucky to bug him for a second this past weekend while he was at the lake with his family.
Boxed up a couple parts to ship out, also made sure that I have everything on a list for when it comes time to order alot of parts!
Sin - did you use submersible fuel line on your fuel pump, so you don't have any further issues with it?
i used the line that it came with. But, i swapped it out and put my old tune on it again and car runs great. Fixing all the boost leaks was huge. I have a few more things to take care of and should be fine. My stupid fuel gauge float isnt working anymore so i need a new one of those. Wideband just pooped out and need to rewire my oil gauge. Just irritated. Car does run great tho.
ya. for now.
Replaced most of the injector orings. No more corn juice leaking everywhere. Threw some right stuff on BISS threads. No more leaky. Need to find a tuning road close to my new house with no 5-0 for a 3rd gear pull to log.
Liking power on oversteer:D
Sold my Stealth to my nephew over a month ago and he still hasn't picked it up but paid for it. Should keep the brakes shiny and battery charged, so might as well drive it.
First logged 3rd gear pull...

NO timing in this and work to do on spool up fuel but it's progress and potential:D

Found a small coolant leak and realized my brand new (been installed for 50 miles) evo oil caps is leaking.
Not to hate but you're happy with that? Looks like a 15g pull.
What are you missing? Will the timing bring in an extra 100+ hp on pump?
Of course I'm happy it's driving after being down for 2years and one year of building. BTW, 15gs don't pull to 8k and won't make power at 30+ psi. "Not to hate"...but enjoy your 9bs. Car is driving; that's the point and that's what I did with my 3S today.

I wasn't hating I was asking. You weren't even to 20 psi so thats why I said it looks like a 15g pull. I know those turbo can do 700+ so a pull with half potential showing, I asked if you were happy. Thanks for your belittling reply....
Also your log only shows to 7k.
I should have started with, " not to sound like a hater".
Gj on getting the car running well. Props for keeping at the project, have seen so many just parted it out due to setbacks
From the phone.
I don't know where to start. But what he's missing is a melted piston, or rod through the block. You don't just jump in a fresh 700hp build and set it to kill.
I'd be happy my car is sorted enough to drive, and making 400 whp on wastegate boost, and probably single digit timing at peak torque.
So many people have no idea how long it takes to get everything sorted out, and a from scratch tune done on a high hp car, without blowing up the car.
I apologize for my reply then. Seems obvious to me that someone wouldn't put in a part list like mine to be "happy" with 400hp so I took your post as condescending.
To answer...yes, happy it's driving. No, not done yet. Chart only shows 6600rpm. I took it up to 8k on next pull but it was in 2nd gear so virtual dyno doesn't work (only 3rd or 4th gear).
Well it's pump E85:) I'm sure these turbos would do 500 on pump though since 16gs do.
Keeping on thread topic...also waxed it today.
I raced it.
Soldered on my EVO MAF harness, and cleaned up the crusty booty-dew from the top of the trans where the slave cyl blew out. Also started measuring for aerocatch latches.
Waiting on Dejon intake runners (should be in this week) then I can reassemble and drive again.
Step by step you'll get there. Bet your ass you can run high 20's / low 30 psi boost on E-85 on big TD-05 turbos :). I don't have any dyno numbers for my billet 20g's yet but I bet they're puttin down 750+ to the wheel at 30psi. The power is absolutely unreal! Big numbers will come from your setup in due time. Congrats on results. Turn up the wick!
You are running AEM right? Post up a VD graph. Would love to see how yours look!
