Are you considering upgrading processors again any time? I don't really want to get one from you now and have to upgrade again later.
I've upgraded once from the original processor that came with my serial expansion card LCD BC. I thought it was the 16 MHz processor but it must have been the upgrade from the 8 MHz small memory micro to the 8 MHz big memory micro or something like that as far as I can tell. I'll have to open up the box and see if there's any markings on the processor. If it ends up being the 16 MHz processor great, but if not I'll order one since like I said I've upgraded once but can't remember which processor it was I got months ago. I will also try the firmware you sent me.
FYI, 99% of the users out there have the 8Mhz processor. I'd strongly recommend upgrading to the 20Mhz processor because it's cheap ($20 shipped), not difficult to install, very precise for MUT communication, very fast datalogging, and all future updates will be with firmware 3.0+.

Is there any advantage to me upgrading? I have one of the very first ones and haven't really had a problem. Sometimes it is a bitch to connect to EvoScan (it will not want to connect then when it does and I start a pull it sometimes disconnects). Could be an issue with the cable, though.
I have my unit buried behind the radio along with the plug and play harness and a million other wires - aka it sucks to pull out. Will it help resolve my connection issue or do you think that is hardware related?
Also, does Evoscan 2.9 work with this? Greg is pushing 2.9 but it is hard to keep up with which versions are compatible with Chrome/LCDBC/both/etc
Version 1 hardware could never datalog, version 2 hardware can, so I'm assuming you have version 2 hardware?
I've used Evoscan v2.9 and it works fine for me (ie. through the LCDBC). When I discovered how much faster the 98/99 ECU is capable of datalogging I investigated on how to improve the LCDBC further. The 16/20Mhz replacement microprocessor is the answer. It went from 100 samples/sec to 278 samples/sec.
The 16/20Mhz processors uses an external crystal for precision timing, and this improves MUT connections. Temperature no longer influences the MUT connection, and does away with the "Factory calibration" setting.
The OBD2/MUT cable is also going through a redesign. It uses a 90degree OBD2 connector to keep it away from the driver's knee, shielded cabling to keep noise out, and a noise filter built-in. I'm just waiting for Jesters Deadd feedback on which noise filter design works better.
Ya it must be version 2, then. I don't have a need for faster sampling rates though so I guess the upgrade wouldn't be worthwhile for me.
Do you have any tips for seeing if the lost connection is a result of the cable/hardware or software?
