Well I decided to bite the bullet, suck it up and buy an RPS Carbon/Carbon clutch with the upgraded Chromoly flywheel. You only live once and life is too damn short to fight with a subpar clutch. :bigthumb:

I hear ya. I am about to just spend the money on 4 MT ET drags with weld draglite rims. Its only money and life is too short, you might as well have fun and do it right.
Nice work.

carbon clutches are yummy :D
Its great that RPS makes a good CC for the Supra. We already know their product sucks for the 3000gt. I would never buy one for the 3S.
The older version with the strapped pressure plate, which utilized a reworked OEM PP like virtually all aftermarket clutches, were known to be a little troublesome. The new Billet pressure plates models (which have been around for several years now) are a complete re-design and have been absolutely bulletproof for the Supra camp. Stock-like engagement and pedal pressure and will hold up to all of the abuse you can throw at it.
I don't think RPS ever updated the 3/s version with a Billet PP; in fact, they don't even list a 3/s model on their site anymore... The only person I know that's really had an issue with theirs has been Ray. AFAIK they've worked well for Matt; I can't really think of anyone else that's used one, or at least provided any feedback, though.
they had about 3-4 re-designs over the years for the 3S. Each seemed like a stab in the dark with no real development testing. Many people on 3Si have bought them and almost every one has had a failure --mostly with the bonded CF on the flywheel or with disintigration/shattering of the carbon discs. I was really interested in the Carbonetics double carbon but there really was no feedback on it. I need 600lb-ft capable clutch so I have renewed interest in these double carbons, but I dont even know if they ever built a decent one for the 3S.

The older strapped versions had a bit of a sordid past with the Supra camp as well. The new billet design, which has been around for 3-4 years now, has proven to be pretty bulletproof.
Carbonetics aka ATS makes GREAT clutches for the Supra -- their triple carbon is a highly regarded. I'm sure anything they make for the 3/s would be of equal quality. However, they are notdesigned (nor will they) with stand up to any drag racing - period. It's a great roadrace and highway pull clutch, but overheating from a drag launch is known to tear them up easily.
After a lot of digging around I was finally able source a new turbine housing, so I'll be replacing the super restrictive .70ar divided housing with a .81ar undivided. Everyone I've talked to with reputable experience seems to think it will be worth 30-50WHP on top of what I've got now, with minimal increase in "lag". I think this should put me over the 140MPH barrier with no other changes. The gains will be even more dramatic once I do open things up with cams.
