What did you do today to your 3/S?

Shitty. Try shaking the car while it's on the ground to see if it comes out of where ever it's hiding?

Honestly, I do that enough I should just buy a rotisserie to flip the car over and get those things to drop :P

For the moment, I'm sitting here gazing wistfully at the Pampena 3.5L..While I've got a damned good machine shop here, I'm not sure if they'd be good enough to do the machining to the crank..So figure about 2k for the pistons and machine work for the crank, and then do the rest myself down here with my spare 4 bolt block.

Outside of a trip to Asheville to sell some parts today, don't have much on my agenda for today for car stuff. Going to try to reorganize the parts room and clean it up a bit, Snook and Krista are crashing here Saturday night on their way over to the Dragon so I've got to make space. Plus, with what I've sold I'll be able to bring some more stuff from the garage back in to try to give myself more room.

Called machine shop today. Block and crank are done but he still needs to measure rod bearing clearances for me. (Plastigauge isn't good enough and I don't have the proper tools.)

Block has been half filled with hard blok, bored/honed with tq plate for .005 PTW and resurfaced for MLS. Crank polished and balanced. Almost ready.....I still have some fabbing to do before I can assemble and drop it in but at least half way done.

Also need to pull steering rack to dissemble and convert to manual. (Remove seals and weld one area.)

Also need to pull trans pump to get to front clutches to install upgraded clutch pack.

Ugh...so much to do, so little vacation time left.

Most high end v8 shops should be fine for cutting down the 74 crank to fit.

I'm probably going to have to drop the trans crossmember, I bet it fell into that area. I was putting a gauge sender on top of the stock fuel filter. Test fit was fine, removed for teflon paste and dropped it :( Was an uncommon NPT to BSPT adapter I had to order from mcmaster.

Shitty, hate that. I've often thought of filling the gap between the cross member and body behind the fuel filter with expanding foam so that shit can't keep falling down in there..On the other hand, when I took all that stuff off, I got a socket and a wrench thanks to a previous owner :P Wooo!

Washer and drier are out in the garage now. Have to try to rearrange everything else in the garage since I had to move it all over to fit the washer and drier through there. Think I may just try to slide the ass end of the car over closer to the wall and put it on stands rather than in the middle. The way it was before, had about 18" to 24" of space on each side of the car. Enough to get through, but not much else. If I keep it slid over, that'd give me about 3 foot on the passenger side of the car. Enough that I can actually have some shit set up there. Considering I can get into the car through the passenger side and until I put the suspension, wheels and body parts back on I don't need access to the driver side, doesn't seem like a bad plan honestly. Would be nice to have enough room to actually hang and use my tool cabinet, or my rolling tool chests.

True, I've got to talk to my machine shop (had to go about an hour outside of Knoxville to find a good one that has good reputation for Mitsu work) and ask. I mentioned something about it last time I was there and they said that they could clearance the block and stuff for a stroker, didn't ask if they could do the machine work for the crank to fit. Really need to get more shit sold before I go down that route, and of course, track down a good used forged 6g74 crank if possible. Ones in the Monteros were cast weren't they?

Stop welding everything on the car damnit :p Wonder if that could somehow be coupled with an electronic power assist arrangement like a newer vehicle to keep things GT style, with less weight and hassle than the the OEM hydraulic set up requires. Would be extra nice if it got rid of some of the vague feel in the steering.

At any rate, sold the old red seats. Ordered new fans for my old HD7950 graphics card, it's going into the girlfriend's new computer. Honestly have half a mind to just firesale all the parts I have left just to clear space and get some quick cash in. Would likely be giving up a huge chunk of cash to do so though. Just one of those thoughts that crosses my mind a few times a month. Once I get the coating done and can start putting suspension and body parts back on the car, will free up much more room.

Stock PS really isn't much weight or power drain; it just doesn't fit with the way I am currently arranging the engine bay.

I drove all summer with manual steering. Just need to finish it up.

found that adapter! fell right in front of where the rear brake and fuel lines go down towards the back of the car. checked the trans fluid and it was 4 ounces too full, checked the t-case and it was 3 ounces too low, lol.

Built the rear motor mount yesterday for 4g64 block. Uses the stock 4g block mount and what I built just attaches to the subframe at the stock 6g72 mtr mount location. So all of the mounts are now complete and everything is solidly mounted...Maximal trans mount. Custom drivers side, rear and front crossmember/mount.
(the glossy paint and pics make the welds look weird, but they look decent in person:D)
