What did you do today to your 3/S?

Deleted more useless vacuum crap. :D Clutch and brake booster will be fed by one hose (with check valve) whenever I put the plenum back on. The brake booster port on the back of the plenum has been plugged.

Finished making this thing as shiny as it's gonna get before it gets buried in the valley. It's not perfect, but it'll do. :) Going to be treating it (and any other polished aluminum bits that go on) with ShineSeal, so that maybe I won't have to repolish it every time I look at it.

Also ran the last of the AN water hoses for the new turbos.

Up next: swapping lower intakes, then new fuel system bits, new gauge sensors (water temp, oil press, fuel press) and then I can consider reassembling things!

Okay, so it only took two years to get around to doing it, but I finally used my powder coating system for the main reason I bought it:

It is the lighting, I had an issue the required a re-spray on side skirts, the body shop did nothing but have their supplier mix the paint code and matched perfectly. I always think it is fading too, then I start viewing the questioned spots at different angles just to see that the "flip flop" is changing equally.

I did that mod a long time ago, and it frees up a fair amount of space (for hands) and simplifies things a lot. Good riddance!

How did you end up plugging the port on the plenum? I had a big vacuum cap on mine for a while, but it didn't hold up well and I just recently blocked that port off permanently. Just curious how you chose to do it

Yeah I think it will end up a lot cleaner this way, though there is still a lot to do on the car, lol.

As for plugging the port... the hole is 1/8 BSPT (also known as 1/8 PT in some metric contexts), and I had a hex plug laying around. Clean the parts well, install with permatex thread sealant.

In the past I have made 1/8 BSPT plugs using a 1/8 NPT brass plug from the hardware store (square drive type used in plumbing), and recutting the threads with the 1/8 BSPT die from my metric tap & die set. With the square drive type of plug you can cut new threads all the way down the plug since there isn't a shoulder on the plug to stop your die.

DSMs and these cars both use 1/8 BSPT all over the place: PCV valve, several fittings on the intake manifold, water temp gauge sensor, oil pressure sensor.... just to name a few. 1/8 NPT will go into these holes about 2 threads and bind (27 threads per inch vs 28, and different taper angle) - and will eventually leak.

I fixed my sunroof today. I would recommend to others to replace the hinges on both sides at the same time. Also I ordered the aluminum gears but that wasn't the problem, it was the bottom of the regulator. The threads that hold the gears to the bottom of the regulator was stripped. A new one is $350 so hopefully JB Weld will due for now... unless someone on the forums has one for sale (I haven't looked yet).

Installed One of April's rebuilt throttle bodies the other day, then got rained-out before before getting the chance to warm it up and reset the idle.

Got that done today, and I am amazed at the difference; I didn't have a problem with the way it ran before, merely thought getting the TB squared-away was a good idea.

Throttle response is now super-smooth; downright silky - a pleasant surprise is that it seems to have tamed some of the raspiness from the exhaust note - cruise is a bit more comfy.

I recommend anyone who hasn't availed themselves of this service do so whenever they can - good to go for another decade, at least. :D

I installed my 3sx downpipes, free flow cat, WBo2 and passed a kidney stone. I do not recommend passing a kidney stone though, it's very painful :disturbed:

Wanted to remove two decent sized bugs in my 96 wing only to cut into the pearl fml. Oh well, gonna have to live with this one.
