did you read about all the exaggerations and outright lies in "The Butler". I'll try and find an article in a little bit but from what I gathered like 80% was just plain made up.

Robocop (2014) - Solid 8 out of 10. If I hadn't seen the original, possibly higher. Lots of character development. This movie suffers from Sherlock Holmes syndrome--only in reverse. It's enjoyable to watch; but it's not its namesake. With the Downy Jr./Law movies, they're super entertaining and fun-filled action; but they're not Sherlock Holmes. More like A.C. Doyle roided up on steampunk. Again, entertaining...but not true to source material.
Robocop 2014 is like that, but in reverse. It's trying to be a more serious drama/action movie. Robocop 1987 is a graphic action movie with a side of satirical humor. In fact, if you watch Starship Troopers (also a Verhoeven film) you can see some of the same nuances and such. Even Starcraft played on some of these same kinds of darkly satirical humor, especially in the cutscenes. Robocop 1987 didn't really take itself too seriously. Robocop 2014 wants you to take it seriously.
Again, not a bad movie at all....just not true to source material. Seems like this is the new Hollywood trend. In fact, the only franchise which seems to finally be BACK to a close facsimile of the source material....is James Bond. Flemming's works depict a dark, psychologically tormented, self-medicating, unbalanced cold-blooded killer who is working for the government. That's very much how Craig portrays him (and Dalton before him). It's also a far cry from Brosnan, Moore or Connery.
P.S.
Saw the previews for Captain America 2 & Need For Speed. Also saw a wierd and very Sweedish-patriotric volvo commercial.
Just saw Robocop also
Robocop 7/10
It was pretty good, had some awesome eyecandy. I thought about giving it a 6 because some things were like "why and the fuck would they do that?", so it made some things sort of stupid but I guess I can overlook that. It was actually a bit creepy/disturbing at times, more graphic than the original one, quite a bit better than the OG though.
Did I mention some awesome eyecandy?!?!?!?!
MORE graphic? Are you high, paul? There was almost nothing graphic about it. You don't really see anything during the explosion. Most of the fighting is against bots, and the humans he does fight are primarily in the dark and you barely see anything between strobe flashes. Probably the most "graphic" thing in the whole movie is seeing what's left of the man inside the machine.
Robocop 87, on the other hand, has a guy get mowed down by ED 209 in the board room (where he flies out the window to his death). Murphy is brutally shot to pieces in very vivid fashion. Etc, etc, etc.
I'm sorry, but there's no way in Zeus' butthole that Robocop 2014 is MORE violent/graphic than the original.
you should rewatch the original. blood goes flying EVERYWHERE each time a gun is fired.
Klipd :: RoboCop - Officer Murphy Is Killed Scene :: Your Database for Movie Memories
sorry, but nothing like this in the new one.
Maybe so, I guess I don't find that nearly as disturbing as seeing what's left of him after they remove the robotics. and the brain surgery :runaway:
then you're just squeemish. besides, they did almost the same thing in robocop 2 with cain.

new Robocop = PG-13. Orginal Rated R.
Dallas Buyers Club. didn't read a single thing about it before the movie so I thought it was about gambling or some Texas cowboy stuff. but anywho, I thought it was really good. my only problem was looking at McConaughey(sp), Leto and Leto's gay little friend. he was the worst off by far. it was painful to see. but the acting was great. I say it was great based on everything else I've seen this cast in before. although I've always had a high opinion of Leto's as an actor and musician. they(Mathew in particular) really steped out of their typical roles and executed with razor sharp precision. 8.5/10
:suspect:
oh for the record, it's nice to see gary oldman do a "good guy" role...sort of. :)
I watched "Mitt" last night - to me, a pretty completely non-political person, it was interesting for the behind-the-scenes look at a campaign (however heavily edited it might be).
Law Abiding Citizen
Damn, that movie was baaaaaaadassssssssss I would give it a 10/10 but I hated the ending so, 9/10 it is given.
Finally watched Pacific Rim..As anticipated, the dialogue and acting and directing were pretty awful, story had all sorts of plot holes and issues, but the mech on giant alien combat as well as visuals were fantastic.
That in mind, I give it a 7.5/10. Fact is, you don't go see a film like Pacific Rim for the story or acting, you go to see some alien getting its ass handed to it by Murica! (and also Australia..And to a lesser extent Russia and China.)
On the list to watch over the next few days/this weekend: Frozen, Despicable Me 2, Riddick and the Lego Movie. All of which I keep hearing good stuff about. Will probably save Frozen and Despicable Me 2 for watching this weekend with my sister and niece.
Edit: Forgot Riddick from the list.
Thor: The Dark World. 6.5/10.
It was entertaining enough. I'm now curious to see what they throw into the third one.
Got to watch Frozen and The Lego Movie this weekend with my niece who loved Frozen but couldn't keep interested in the Lego Movie. She tends to lose interest when the singing stops in Frozen, but managed to more or less make it through.
I'd give it a 9/10 and a 9.5/10 respectively. Frozen was enjoyable, even for three adults and contained jokes for all ages, the songs were tolerable and a few even somewhat catchy. Lego Movie I thought was hysterical, and even had some touching moments (never thought I'd say that about Lego.) All in all, both were very very good and I even intend to rewatch them on my own for enjoyment.
I will get to Despicable Me 2 and Riddick later this week I hope.
Saw Lego with my nephew and he's 34 lol. It was great!
Gravity: 6.5/10 Could have had better effects which could have brought it to an 8/10. Storyline was a bit weak as well, but worth a watch...
There wasn't one car chase seen, no fireball explosions (was a small bbq in the pod), not a shooting star to be seen, or exploding volcano, AND no Bewbs! The hole in the face was cool though.
:lmao:
I got Jungle Book on blue ray.
Old school Disney.
The school actually took us to see it at the theater for a field trip.
It was always a big deal when a new Disney movie came out.
My favorite when I was a kid.
10/10
Captain America. 8.5/10
I really liked this movie. I liked pretty much everything about it. just a good fun movie to watch.
that being said I think the underlying theme to "Hero's" like this and others speaks volumes. basically you have a puny little guy that no matter how motivated, just and how much good he wants to do in the world it's all for not. People will pick on him, girls will ignore him and no will let him fight the good fight. However..... Do some steriods. I'm sorry go to a secret under ground gov't lab and get injected with a "Super Soldier juice" so he can become a big and strong tough guy. The women will want him, his fellow soldiers will admire him and he'll get to save the day.
cliffs: Per Captain America. Do steriods = save the world and get bitches.
The Wind Rises. 7.5/10.
Didn't know much about this going into it but it was easy, personally, to connect with in a couple different ways and the animation was fantastic as one would expect from Ghibli studios.
Hustle and Flow 9 out of 10, seen it a bunch, love this flick.
I've never watched it. I wanted to when it first came out. Then I ended up watching other movies that Terrence Howard did, and never had the desire to see it.
Don Cheadle is, about as under-rated as Howard was over-rated, imho. Have you ever seen Hotel Rwanda or Traitor?
Hunger Games 2 9/10
I know I'll probably cop it, but I really liked this movie.
It's no wonder Hollywood makes a multitude of shit. People still crave it. :p
As for Thor 2 - I thought it was terrible. The way they forced Natalie Portman in to the storyline was God awful.
Scooter
wholeheartedly, paul.
and i have no desire to see hunger games. like ever.
Just got back from Need For Speed, it has it's CGI moments, but overall it was a very good movie, both in sounds, and realism for the most part.
It was a joke Scooter.
Sent from the Man Cave!

It's hard to tell. I mean there are actual savages that thought Transformers 2 was a good movie. You bitches know who you are.
Scooter
Only thing i like in transformers 2 was...rail gun.
Jason
transformers is not a good movie. none of them. the novelty drew me in, but the rest is utter shite. michael bay should DIAF. shia le bouf can join him. and it would be nice to have screenwriters who actually played with the fucking toys and watched the blip'n cartoons. the mis-named transformers really get on my nerves. and that's not even to mention the fact that the movies are treated like a GM showcase--rather than being true to the source material.
