So I hotwired my fuel pump and then.......

Your problem when its running is the MFI relay coil going "off" and "on." If you changed the relay and its still doing it you need to check the wiring to the relay.

Have you checked battery voltage when running and when not running. My car was doing the same thing when the battery was low, but my battery was almost new. Bad alternator was actually draining the battery. I had more voltage when the car was off.

Also I don't think the MFI relay is a good place to tap into for your hotwire relay trigger. The reason is, the motors fuel and spark is cut if one isn't detected.

The battery is good and the alternator is a nearly new high output unit. Both test fine.
Yeah, seems like I screwed up on that one. Reason I put it up front is that the only other place on the Diamante would be in the trunk behind the back seat and I have a custom trunk mold so if anything happened I would have to remove it and that would be a huge pain.
I removed the hotwire mod and it still does it so either the mod broke something or its unrelated.

If that MFI relay is clicking then it's either faulty or the power supply to it is cutting in and out. You need to check the wiring diagram and trace all the wires back. Perhaps the device it recieves it's power from is faulty.

Well I don't think it is the MFI. I bought two off of ebay to replace my stock one and neither of them change anything. I guess they both could be bad, I emailed the sellers today to ask if they could verify that they came off of a working vehicle.

Do you know what powers the MFI in the 3000gt? They use the same ECU and MFI so it would be the same. If not I will follow the wire tomorrow.

Yeah its strange, every time it clicks its like the car is turning on and off. My gauges which have a warm up sequence (where they go to full and then fall back on the reading when you turn the car on )
keep going to full, then off, full than off. My remote line to the fusebox keeps cutting out then.

Interesting, I would take a guess (as you've probably already nutted out) that your + to the relay has a loose connection.
Do you have a USDM electrical manual like this one?

Ok I think this is what your talking about??? The turbo models have 2x relays which might be causing some confusion for you. There is a relay to control the high and low voltage power going to the pump and there is a basic relay that powers the pump. I suspect you on have this one below [the basic only]. This should tell you how to test it and what pins go to where.

Any idea which one I should test for specifically (dont want to screw around with the frail stock wires more than I have to)
The car does get spark, just not fuel, and then when I hotwire the fuel pump it starts up but doesnt idle then dies.

Ok here is how I wired it

87 went straight to battery with fuse inline
85 I grounded to the frame
30 went to the fuel pump via a new 8g wire I ran
86 I connected to the black/blue wire right of the MFI/MPI

Did I interpret that last one wrong? I figured you just put the relay in line with the wire off the MFI using heavier wire to the relay and then from the relay to the fuel pump?
