A couple months ago a larger microprocessor was made available for a couple dollars more so I switched to that for future proofing. If you purchased yours within the last couple months, you have the new larger micro and it runs v2.23 no problem. However, the smaller sized microprocessor can't handle v2.23 (the straw the broke the camel's back). So it seems v2.22 will be the last version for the smaller sized micro.
RealMcCoy: I sent you an email for v2.22 firmware to fix your situation. The good news is, the microprocessor's aren't bricked as the flash program is separate from the main program. I duplicated your problem and found a solution.
So now you're wondering, which version do I have (small or big)? When the big version arrived, I made a secret improvement to the builtin flash process so you could flash through the main serial connector (OBD1/OBD2/MUT), or through the optional serial port (datalogging). The latter is more convenient because you don't have to unplug your OBD1/OBD2/MUT cable. During the flashing process, to inform the device you want to use the optional serial port for flashing in, you must hold down the rotary encoder button.
Let's review the flash process:
(1) Have key in ignition with the device powered off.
(2) Run flash utility, select micro, select windows com port number, select flash file.
(3) Hold down the rotary encoder button (this selects the optional serial port).
(4) Press Upload on flash utility, and wait for black window box to appear.
(5) Turn ignition key on to power device on. (You have less than 2 seconds before the device exits the flash process and runs normally).
(6) You can release the rotary encoder button once the flash process begins.
(7) If it doesn't work, you either have the small micro version or messed up step 5. Wait until the black box disappears on its own before retrying.

I attempted to flash 2.19 back into it after the problem and there was no response.... The unit apeared completely dead and would not power up. That's why I swapped proccesors in the first place was to make sure it was not a hardware issue. I was then able to flash in 2.19. Does the solution you found include a method of waking it up that's not in 2.19?
I would be very interested in a couple of the new processors... The passthrough flashing would be awesome. I currently have to pull the interior panels and blindly fumble with the serial connection under the console to hook up. It would be great to use the dataloging extention.

I think it was around Sept/Oct when the newer processor was used.
No, there's nothing written on the chip to identify. Yes, for $26 shipped you get a new processor.
