Ok so I connected the fuel pump hotline (right after the stock relay) to 12v and started it up. It started up like a champ but then the rpms bounced from 1k to about 1.5k and it repeated that for a short amount of time. The stock relay began to click and then it died.
Bad relay then?
Im getting my new one on monday so I will know I just dont want to fry the new one.
Ugh so I got my new MFIs in the mail (just in case I got two) and when I put them in the car just cranks and cranks.
So Im guessing the MFI isnt the issue (got at least one for sale cheap now!).
Any idea what else it could be? I didnt smell any burnt capacitors for it to be the ECU.
Might be time to get hold of a full wiring diagram and trace out all your wires. Where does the MFI get it's power from?
Definitely ruled out the MFI. Put my original MFI in another car and it ran just as it did before the swap.
All fuses are fine, battery, alternator, ignition components and fuel pump all tested good. Looks like my ecu took a crap right after the mod. Wonder if the hotwire mod put stress on it somehow? It was wired according to instructions but who knows.
Nah mate if anything the hotwire mod has put LESS stress on your ECU.
I highly doubt you've stuffed the hotwire, but it'd be good if you could write out a diagram and show us what you connected to where.

Im about to pull the ECU and im hoping youre experience with these could help me. I removed the stereo, shifter trim, and carpet from the sides of the console, and now I can see the ECU. Mine is blocked by another computer and caged in by tons of wiring. What is the best way to get this thing out?Quote:

At least that is where I think it is. I pulled all the other computers in the way and ran the parts numbers.
Ah disregard that. I found the ECU on the passengers side. Bad write up said it was in the center. Oh well, I needed to replace an RCA cable anyway :p

From what I understand you can see the cap blow so now I am at square one.
No idea what it could be now. Engine runs fine when hotwired so I know nothing broke there.
Ok, so I put all the brain boxes back in and it started. It started strong however it kept going from 1k to 1.5k rpm. Everytime it would bounce the MFI would click.
After doing that for a short time it died.
I tried starting it again and it started poorly and stumbled badly around idle and then died. Started again and it repeated the stumbling. Then after a few tries it would not start.
