Well, before MNF started I was down 19 with only DeSean Jackson left to play. My opponent had no one to play. I had a little bit of hope that I could possibly pull off the win, but am not holding my breath. Jackson did get 13 points on one reception, but I am still not holding my breath. I can hope for another TD reception out of Jackson, but won't be surprised if it doesn't happen. Sadly I had Pierre Thomas on the bench where he got me 30 points that do not help.....
My team is totally underachieving this year. I am 1-3 and without 7 more points out of Jackson I will be 1-4. I am totally disgusted. The guy I am playing this week was talking about it today and said I have a great team, that my players are all just underperforming and one of these weeks my team is just going to go off. I can't wait for that. LOL
I am quite sorry to hear that your team is underachieving, but Jackson may yet pull it out for you this weekend. Got my fingers crossed for you.
My receiving corps (which I thought was going to be my strength) has been an absolute disappointment this year. While I've ran into a buzzsaw so to speak these past 2 weeks, it is further infuriating given that this week I'll be outscored by just 4 teams (even with 3 players getting a total of 10 points instead of the 41 they were projected for.)
Jackson had another big reception and I am now tied. I would rather lose than tie. LOL My brother actually tied in his game last week.
But yeah the underachieving sucks, especially when I did so good last year.
Also this week was way crazy for scoring anyway in our league. We had one guy who blew up last week and this week he scored a final TOTAL of 56. That is by far the lowest points for in a week. (lowest prior was 95) We have another guy who is 1-3 like me, but scored 221 so far this week. That is by far the highest points for this year. (highest prior was 194)
Well a few more catches has gotten me a 5 point lead. That should hold as long as Jackson doesn't go on a fumblitis streak. I'd be happy if he got another catch or two and another TD, but I'd be just as happy if he isn't targeted again the rest of the game LOL
lol Hang in there!
What should be the final tally for the week: I lose 196-142.
Trying to look ahead and play the long game on my moves and not panic at a 2 game skid, making the play offs seems like it may be a long shot at the moment..Only the top 2 teams in each division make it..My division has been brutal thus far, highest scoring by a wide margin. Just keep reminding myself that statistically I *should* have won at least one of the two weeks and just had bad luck. (outscoring 8 out of 15 possible teams last week, and 11 out of 15 possible teams this week.)
Well, its been awhile since we have updated this thread. A few updates have been in the NFL thread and the latest post by serge there made me decide to post over here at the conclusion of Sunday night's game.
So I finished our regular season at a disappointing 5-7. I made the playoffs at a #6 seed. Last week was week 1 and I won that match 188-175 against last years champion/the commish. Week 1 was totally nuts where the 1, 2, and 3 seed all lost to the underdogs.
Week 2 pitted me at #6 versus #7 and #4 versus number #8.
The 4 versus 8 game is over with #4 winning 191-140.
My game started off poorly. I did not realize that DeSean Jackson was ruled out until it was too late. I was playing 10 players versus 11 players of my opponent. The ironic thing is when I played the same opponent in the regular season I only had 10 players just due to poor thinking on my part and being screwed by bye weeks. I still won that match.....
At this point I am winning the match 163-134. I have Steven Jackson left to play, while my opponent has Jordy Nelson.
While my win is not guaranteed I am breathing a little easier. If I beat him again with 10 players he is probably not going to be very happy.
What was even more ironic is the week after he lost to me with only 10 players, he won a game with only 10 players. Go figure.
As long as Jordy Nelson does not have an epic career game and Steven Jackson does at least something I will be in the championship game for the 2nd straight year (only second year in this league) facing the wife of the commish. She is a tough opponent and I would not be surprised if she wins it all.
Well, I'll update here for posterity sake..
I finished the season with the 2nd best record at 10-3, but ended up as the #5 seed since the #1 record was in my division.
First playoff game matched up again the #4 seed who went 7-5 in the regular season. While it should've been a cake walk for me, J.Stewart and the Rams defense both exploded this weekend for him for 34 and 58 points respectively. Unfortunately, unless Roddy White and Matt Bryant put up a metric fuckton of points and Mason Crosby does nothing, I will lose. Currently down 129-159.
At this point I am regretting not making the Roddy White trade. Eddie Royal hasn't been consistently stellar this season, but Jeffery has been better than White by a good bit and his 21 points this week would've been a nice boost (although not enough to make up the difference.)
What I can say though is that Owen Daniels and Antonio Gates sadly combined to be my two most productive receivers..My receiving corps, who I spent 3 of my first 4 picks on in the draft, turned out to be a complete bust. White missed several games this year (including games where ATL didn't scratch him until right before hand while I was at work and couldn't change it.) Patterson was a massive bust, which likely has quite a bit to do with APs suspension, but just didn't really do much for me this year. Michael Crabtree has been hampered by injuries all year, but has put up tolerable numbers. Snagged Forsett off the waiver wire after the Ray Rice suspension was the best move I made all year and likely saved my season. Next year I am going to try to request off the day of our draft. This year I kinda got screwed trying to get it done at work (in retail no less) so some of the players drafted weren't even playing this year.
After quite a bit of discussion within the league, some changes have been agreed to for next year:
1) They are changing the bonus points for QBs and defenses. QB scoring will be brought back down a bit. Defenses will earn a bit more points for a shutout and limited scoring (rewarding how rare it is in todays game) and they are getting rid of the bonus points for 3 and outs.
2) No keepers for next year. Almost half the league was new people this year (myself included) and kinda got boned by whoever owned our team last year if they had selected a shitty team and had nobody worth keeping. Draft order will be totally randomized (which likely won't make much difference for me.)
3) Team rosters are being cut down to a smaller size (bench goes from 8 to 4). This speeds up the draft, and leaves more good players on the waiver wire to pick up. With a 16 team league, if you had a player go down with injury, you were kinda fucked because there was rarely anyone worth picking up off the wire after the first 5 or 6 weeks.
4) You will no longer be able to keep the same player in consecutive years.
Is there a 3S league? Would be interesting if not.
I am sitting at #2 seed. First round bye this week and my team had a useless stellar week! 145pts and still have Cobb.
I am curious about other leagues though. Nearly all teams (12 total) in my league are only separated by 1-2 games. I was think this was due to how the NFL season has gone with 2 divs nearly all tied up. AFC North and NFC South. Has all yall's leagues been that close? To where I was at 8th place, and with one win and a tie I was in 2nd.
