They started saying this about the xBox 360 and the Playstation 3, as well as when new variants of the PSP and what would become the Vita came out. The game makers create special deals with Gamestop for bonus content and many other things. Fact is, it is all talk. The game developers and producers won't get past Gamestop, Best Buy and other resalers not to mention the inevitable court cases that would come up.
