Got my inserts put in today. Drove 30 mins away to use a local's press. Even with the press this was a pain in the rear because you had to align the inserts juuuuuuuust right for them to go in.

I installed the motor mounts today. Hooray!
The throttle body shaft seals I ordered from Aby @ Mil.Spec did not fit my 1G DSM throttle body. I have no idea how anyone else gets these to fit. I ended up screwing both of the seals up trying to get them to seat properly but neither would go in.
Should have listened to my gut when it told me to order the STM ones...
those mounts look familiar :) my mounts were easy to put in because they dont make em for awd auto .... so had to get a sleee made that i put over the poly then press fit the sleeve and poly and all into the mount
Installed the brake proportioning valve and brake master cylinder lines. Just need to get the new front brake lines. I was going to order from chryslerpartsdirect but I haven't heard from them since I tried contacting them. I called their line and it said to email them and they would respond within 24 hours and they have not done so. Looks like I might have to bite the bullet and order these from the stealership.
Also installed the head and torqued the head bolts down. Trying to get some opinions on if I need to take the lifters out to prime them or if it's okay to crank the engine over a few times without fuel to do it since I never took the lifters out of the head.
Even got my non-cruise cable in today. I didn't hook it up to the gas pedal though. I saw some rust where it bolts to the frame and decided to take care of it. :)
Still need to:
Install transfer case and crossmember
Reassemble throttle body
Install intake plenum, throttle body
Install exhaust manifold, turbo, and downpipe
Install radiator
Install vacuum lines and boost gauge
Install front brake lines
Install cams and timing components
It seems like a lot, but really I could do all of the above in a few hours. I won't be able to finish this week since I'm leaving early Friday. My wife and sons will be back in town finally so I'll have less time to work on the car, but it will get done soon. :)
depends , if you take and puish on the lifters and they have some squishyness to em or not if they are just hard and flatthen yes prime them
If they have oil in them I shouldn't be able to push on them at all.
The concensus seems to be to pull and bleed them so that they can compress then reinstall.
Just a little bit more to go...

Didn't get the lifters done today, but got a lot of other things out of the way. Installed the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, fuel rail, PTU, and a few other things I'm sure I'm forgetting. I had to track down nuts to use on the exhaust manifold since the old head had all the exhaust manifold studs replaced with bolts (another bad idea by a previous owner). Also had to retap my throttle body ports to a more easily available size. Turns out 12-24 set screws are pretty hard to find outside of Fastenal. :p I ended up tapping them to 5/16"-18 which is readily available at O'Reilly. I also painted the radiator ends black since the black finish on them was wearing off. I would have done more but my cams and throttle body seals did not come in today as I expected them to.
Getting really close! That valve cover looks 1000x better. Looks like we're coming over on Monday, want to do some work then?
Assuming we are able to get out of the house, sure! My cams and throttle body seals ought to come in by Saturday so we can start throwing the timing components together, but I'll need to bleed the lifters first, and that shouldn't take long.
Just got the cams in the mail. I opened them to make sure everything was fine and they appeared fine. What I didn't realize until now is that the stock turbo cams are the same as the non-turbo cams from 90-91. So I could have saved money by keeping the cams from that came from the junkyard head I bought instead of putting them back in the head I returned as a core! Damn!
Oh well, live and learn.
