Bryant tried to make more out of that play than was needed. If he just catches the ball and goes down, without trying to score a TD, Dallass probably wins that game. Yes, Belichick is the equivalent of a NASCAR crewchief, and my dislike of the Pats is as overwhelming as anyone's, but trickery within the rules is legit, period.
Nobody is saying that what the Pats did is illegal. Harbaugh is mad that his defense couldn't figure out what the Pats were trying to do? Isnt that like one of the biggest parts of the game, the chess match? Should the read option be illegal as well because the defense doesn't know if the QB is actually a RB or not?
The fastest the Pats declared someone ineledgable and then snapped the ball was like 6 seconds, that is plenty of time to change your defensive play.
