best description of schizophrenia i ever heard:
"it's like LSD, but far worse and completely unpleasant. it re-wires your brain in ways it's not supposed to function, and results in an inability to complete/comprehend basic tasks."
Schizophrenia is like being high on pcp, but for life...or so I've heard.
In reality though there isn't one schizophrenia, but many schizophrenias, just as there isn't just autism, but a whole spectrum.
