Cayenne/touareg/q7 BBK upgrade (product idea)

the heavy wear can be alot to do with pads...

same with the jerky braking on the Toureg...try different pad material?

Brake Pads: $100-$300 Depends how aggressive you want to go

Think in the somewhat distant future I'll look at the 368x36mm rotor/caliper kit would be one helleva close fit under 18's though (so I need to get the 18x11's first)

I am still overheating the SCE wide rotors, I have XP8 pads and heat treated rotors, the slots are GONE after 3 track days, 70 degree weather, I dont get it. I run IPS Slotted rotors and XP8s. I put them on just before NG, did the events, and have been daily driving the car since. Pad/rotor wear hasn't been that bad for me.

been looking to this on my Stealth for some time, and as matter of fact I have made a thread a while ago over the other site and got some weird answers.
a good friend of mine has these calipers on a Audi S4 B5(rs6 turbos) + some MB discs, and I can tell that this is a major upgrade.

I have a Cayenne S, 955, and thought about converting mine to these calipers. Just think that these brakes can stop the 2.5 tons from 250kmh, not to mention the Turbo that can go almost 300kmh.
IMO, The cheapest way to do that is to use the 955/957 calipers. S, GTS, Turbo - have the same 18" brakes and uses the same caliper for front and rears.
it is a different part number, just because of their color.
Mine, Cayenne S, are Grey - so all of them are running on the same 350(355 can be used also) mm discs, for the front, and 330 for the rears.
Now, there are some other bigger brakes for these cars, but that was just an extra option and I dont think it worth the effort.
The latest model on turbo, they've switched to bigger ones.
I have the PET (Porsche Parts program), so I can check if you want for parts numbers.
Don't really know the compatibility between Audi - VW -Porsche, but I can tell that they are using the same brakes.

The V6 models, and Touareg V6, also some Audi q7 - use a different 6 piston front calliper, a little bit smaller because they use a 17" brakes (guess they are called like that because you can use only bigger wheels than 17" or 18" - on my car 18" is the minimum I can get for winter).

the 18"- 18ZL Caliper - front brakes caliper specs: 30 34 38 piston setup and
the 17"- 17ZL Caliper - front brakes caliper specs: 34 36 38.

now the good part is that these 18ZL calipers have the original rotor = 350 x 34
while the 17ZL have original rotor=330x34

next week I'll throw some pictures and specs of the rears also, as I'm going to replace the brake pads and discs on my wife's car.

I'd done this since months ago, but, believe it or not, I couldn't find some good, not so expensive and also floating discs(rotors) in my area, I live in Romania.
so if someone can show me from where I can get front and rear discs for this setup, I'll be happy to show you how it worked out :)

a set of 4 callipers, front and rear, I can get for maximum 500 eur, so it means that a full bbk should not go over 1500 and that is cheap, including the rebuilt kit, powder coating, adapters.
I would go for brackets made out of cast iron, as RS from Audi, AMG are doing the same.
The Porsche & Audi & VW calipers are Brembo.

you can find more info's on this subject over VW and Audi forums. in fact, there are several vendors for other platforms that are selling kits for these cars.

What kind of pads are you going to go with? I hate the OEM pads on my S, they dust like crazy. I've heard Centric pads and EBC are both great choices with no dusting.

I don't care that much for the dust, as here in Romania we have a lot :( .
anyway, my wheels are black. guess, it will be ATE or Bosch.

just have to figure out from where I can get the rotors.

following the road that other, platforms, went, I should ask:

Is there any OEM(Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, etc..) rotors available in 350-355 x 32-35mm, 5x114.3, also with an ET that might fit these calipers and our wheels?
As I said before, on other platforms, VW Golf they are using Mercedes rotors, from GL for example.

which model can be our donor?

Evo X rotors are 350 x 32mm 5x114.3, same hub diameter too. Don't know about the right backspacing though.
