Nice! I hope you document it so I can follow along! :D
The Stealth - planning on shipping it out. I got a reasonable quote from WolfePack Transport ($1550 for enclosed) - the problem is that it's basically all the way from one end of the country to the other (Vermont to California). But since I moved to Cali for a job, the cost of the shipping is fully tax deductible, so it seems like a good idea ... but please tell me about your bad experiences. I'm pretty nervous about it. :(
I want to get my Single Turbo SOHC engine built and get the car tuned and done before NG14. I have a long way to go...
Complete aero package, tuft wool test, and CFD model. Finish chassi integration with strain gauges. Finish new hood. Hit the track... Play with GoPro. Read more and post less on the forums.
A couple of you have mentioned doing an AC recharge or a compressor swap. Are you R12 or R134? Have you had any issues if it is R12? Nobody seems to want to touch mine while it has R12, and I don't want to convert to R134 unless it's a last resort.
Tom the problem is R12 is getting harder and harder to find since they can't make it anymore, that's why no one will do it. If you can find a shop that has any left then I don't see why they would have an issue.
Mine is/was 134.
Charge an arm and a leg for it anymore though. There are variants that will work in an R12 system but they're generally not cheap. Your best bet is going to be to flush the system, get a new compressor designed for R134 and get a new receiver drier/accumulator designed for R134 as well. Theoretically you could drain all the old R12 oil out of the compressor and clean it and then put a retrofit kit on it. You'd also need new ports that would fit R134. I switched mine by buying a complete R134 system off of someone parting their car out for 50 bucks. Easier and cheaper than converting. You could probably get it all (sans condenser anyhow) for a decent price shipped and then just flush your old condenser out a few times with mineral oil or something. Still need to get it charged, but compared to what a shop quoted to replace it all, I saved a few hundred bucks.
Dial in a 91 pump gas tune on my DR650 setup and then go for a 100 octane tune
