I knew you'd change your mind about getting rid of the car. :D The heartache of all the work that has to be done to fix a car sometimes isn't as bad as knowing how much you will lose selling the car. If it doesn't hurt anything to let it sit it's always a good idea. I always try to pay cash for anything that isn't my main source of transportation that way if it's down I'm not out anything.
That's interesting what you found out about the engine from the bearing. Ray's probably right about it not being balanced. I don't know enough about it to tell for sure. At least you didn't have knock, oil starvation, dented oil pan, or oil contamination spin the bearings like many people have happen. After getting screwed through a local shop turning my 6G72 crank that was cracked which they were supposed to magnaflux, I made sure Ray did all the work on my crank and balancing through Scott Merkel. I don't trust anyone around here and if I have problems with coolant being pushed out I'll bet it'll be the shop screwing up the copper o-rings. I hope it all works out ok. :(
I really hope switching to the 4340 crank will solve your problems and it's not some other underlying reason. I'd hate to see you keep going through rebuilds not being able to pinpoint the exact problem. I'd say you should buy Matt's stroker and not worry about the 0.2L downsize. Maybe later you could put bigger pistons in, but I'd just enjoy the car for awhile. :) I'll look forward to your results.
Any word on this trev?

I was just wondering where Trev has been recently. :bump:
he is hopefully taking a break from the car :)
I would say bent crank as well. Also glad to hear you're keeping the car! I've followed your build almost to the point of religeon ;)
