Keep in mind it's not about your favorite guitarists. This is about who CURRENTLY (playing right now not 5 years ago) is the most talented guitarist. This means being able to write their music, technical ability, speed & clarity and the ability to improvise with the same exact skill as though playing memorized music.
My favorite guitarist isn't even on the list.
Creed? Meh the worst live show I have ever had to sit through period...
george is a huge influence on my playing. a lot of dokken is really cheesy, but george's fluid legato playing, epic vibrato, and unique phrasing has been huge to me.
lets not forget about alan holdsworth and shawn lane. it sucks shawn is dead because he may have been the most technically advanced guitarist of all time. i'm not really into the jazz fusion thing, but damn
I went to a Creed show about 11 years ago. I was 19 at the time. It was an awesome show, though it was earlier Creed too. UPO (a one hit wonder) opened with Sevendust playing the second set that show. We sat outside drinking our asses off during UPO's set then went inside for Sevendust and had an awesome night.
Well if a pedal lap steel counts .......I'm gonna say Robert Randolph
