This summer I'm planing to recess it into the floor in order to get rid of the ramps. Apart from the need for ramps I have no complaints about it so far.

This spring has been really busy at work so my garage time has been very limited lately. However yesterday I managed to get a few hours of premium garage time so I started taking the car apart in order to replace the engine mounts and intercoolers.

My original intercoolers had really seen their best days and I can't image that they where doing a very good job cooling the air judging from how they looked.

Testing the passengers side intercooler. Had to trim the tray for the ABS unit a bit and move the vacuum reservoir in order for it to fit.

On the drivers side all I had to do was remove the anchor for the removable tow hook (don't think that's present on US spec cars).
I could even keep the oil cooler in it's stock location which surprised me, how ever I'm planing to move it to the font anyway.
Something both intercoolers shared was that the side mounting brackets didn't align with the holes on the car so I'll have move those. I also found the mounting points on the Gene SMIC's a bit weak especially considering the weight of these things so I'm planing to weld an additional mounting bracket on each intercooler before permanently installing them.
I tried mounting the front with the intercoolers on and it was tight, really tight. I'm probably going to have modify the fastening brackets for the active aero plastic cause right now the front is slightly deformed when mounted cause the intercoolers push down on the mounting brackets for the active aero under tray. This is probably caused by the fact that the euro spec cars have a slightly different active aero under tray with some odd plastic end dams compared to US spec cars.

Mounted my new K&N RF-1021 air filter and MAF-adapter. It's a tight squeeze but it fits.

BTW, all that crap on the clutch line is a clutch damping system. From what I gather it smooths out engagement and prevents you from dumping the clutch too hard.

Nice thread. I'm a little confused by the gearbox swap though. If both boxes had the same front diff but a different rear diff wouldn't someone's vcu be toast?

You are correct Taz who I bought the new gearbox from would have toasted the VCU if he had ran the gearbox on his car (he had it as a spare) since he has a US spec 3000GT. Luckily he never did and since my car has the Euro spec/JDM gearing it fitted my car.Quote:

Next time drop me a PM cus I already knew about the Euro spec vs JDM thing. I have spent far too much time researching on ASA and forums etc. Usually I can check these things on ASA. I have 4 different versions installed which I use to compare parts etc. I just don't have a working version of ASA/CAPS for Australia yet :lol:
