Yes, I already know all of Hollywood is "sellout". That's one of the reasons I hate "Hunger Games" so much; it's patently obvious that the author decided to cash-in on the JK Rowlings tried&true method. Worse, Hollywood actually optioned the books. I don't buy that BULLSHIT about movie remakes being because of how much it costs to option new material. Optioning #1 best-sellers like "50 shades of grey" and "Hunger Games" doesn't come cheap. What IS cheap is stuff that has been around for 50+ years.

I don't believe that pacifying the purists and appealing to the masses are mutually exclusive ideas. Most people I know liked the 2010 Star Trek movie--both trekkies/trekkers and newcomers. Let's face facts here, the reason that an established series GOT FANS IN THE FIRST PLACE--was because of generated appeal. That might require a couple tweaks here and there for broader appeal--but in no way does it mean canon goes out the window on the altar of expedited profits. Unless--of course--you have no soul.
