Hunger Games 1 - 3/10.
20 minutes into it, I knew the plot summary for the entire trilogy (or whatever). Mediocre acting. Plot holes you could drive a greyhound bus through. Utter suspension of disbelief required for most of it. I understand plot devices being used to engage the audience and/or elicit emotional response from them--but when they're so blatantly pedestrian that the audience is patently aware of them....it's just brutal to watch.
It seems fairly clear to me that Suzanne Collins is trying to cash in on following JK Rowling's model of success. As to why shitstain tripe like this gets green-lighted and donkey-punched through production while the works of Douglas Adams languish in obscurity---well that's essentially a crime against humanity. Instead we get this, Twilight & Harry Potter. Fuck I weep openly for the human race.
