If you look at the different types of blankets that are out there you will see that the TD04 version is a thin wrap style blanket while the more common ones are a slip on type that are at least twice as thick. I think you might get better results by using additional heat wrap on the stock heat shields.Quote:

Wow. I haven't been on the forums in months and was excited as heck to see this thread as I am also a DR750 2nd gen Stealth owner.
That sucks to read man. Hope all goes well when you get it back from Ray. I ordered a Pampena block awhile back. Still waiting for it though.
I have question for some of you DR750 owners.. Who's running the original ones with TiAL exhaust wheels and who's running the redesigned ones that Matt has available now? For the ones who are not running the TiAL version, are you guys getting the surge issue?
Ray tore the engine the rest of the way down today and it looks like the mains were beat up. Good chance the crank is bad. Probably a tune issue. I do not know why exactly, but if you are running e85 and the stock timing map I would suggest some caution.
Going to pull some more timing in the load areas I was hitting and a little more way up top. I'll add a degree in at a time after that and compare dyno charts to be sure it is making decent gains.
If I can make it work I'm going to have him build a 3.5. Other details about the setup may change as well, but I am still on the fence about some things.
You should be able to run MORE timing than stock on E85, not less. I run ridiculous timing on mine and beat on it and have never had any bearing issues. Ever.

It is common for DSMs and evo's to pull timing at peak tq on e85 but able to run more up top. (Sometimes a lot more up top). The big power supra's on e85 timing I have seen posted are near or at single digits at peak tq.Quote:

Best I can figure the timing is probably high at 3500 to 4000 where that big early spool torque comes in. Better safe that sorry, but I do appreciate the input for sure.
Could also just be the mains were wiped out before I bought it.

The mains rarely get pounded unless there is a violent onset of torque...which your 750's easily provide for. It could've already been hurt, but I'm leaning on those 750's making so much tq, so fast, that it's just too much for the stock bits to take. Ray will get you straightened up.
